Keeping with this trend, advances in educational technology have been implemented to help serve this group of ‘connected’ students find success in the classroom. The University of Arkansas Athletics Department recognizes and embraces this trend. Several assistive technologies have been purchased for the educational enrichment of student-athletes. Specifically by using technologies such as Read & Write Gold and LiveScribe, the athletic department has been able to improve the quality of services provided to Razorback athletes. Read & Write Gold is a computer software designed to enhance a student’s reading and writing skills. By uploading an assignment, this software has the ability to read text to the student for better comprehension. Read & Write also has the capability to convert a student’s speech to text in a word document.
