News Release For immediate release French schools help Haiti Relief nd Regina, February 2 , 2010 – École Beau Soleil is having its fundraising during lunch hour today at Innovation Credit Union, in Gravelbourg, through a bake sale organized by students in 6th and 7th grades. School families have made cakes for this sale. Between January 18 through 25, Monique Craig, a teacher at the École de Bellegarde, has organized a fundraiser to help victims of Haiti’s earthquake. It has raised an unexpected amount of $1,202. The school has auctionned three pairs of mittens from the official Vancouver Olympic Games 2010. Several other initiatives of this kind have occurred in other schools of the Conseil des écoles fransaskoises (CÉF). École Monseigneur de Laval in Regina has raised over $2,000 through a bake sale organized by Carline PetitHomme two weeks ago. In North Battleford, école Père Mercure is having a bottle drive until the end of this week. Students in Grades 11 and 12 of École secondaire College Mathieu in Gravelbourg have also done their share. As part of their Christian education classes, students did a door-to-door activity during one hour in the streets of the village to collect donations. They raised a sum of $580.76. All funds collected by the schools are being donated to the Canadian Red Cross. As the only Francophone school division in the province, the CÉF administers 12 schools across the province, including a boarding school.
