Friday 1st July 2016 Children’s Celebratory Newsletter Gabriel’s Chinese Lion Dancing Gabriel Ka Ho Au (1H) is a member of the Eastbourne District Chinese Community Association, and attends Chinese School every Sunday, where he also learns Chinese Lion Dancing. On Sunday 5th June 2016 Gabriel performed his very first Chinese Lion Dance in front of the whole school, family and friends as well as the Mayor of Eastbourne! He performed brilliantly and we couldn’t be more proud of him. He worked very hard and participated in extra lessons in preparation for his first performance. What a wonderful experience for Gabriel! SEAFORD PRIMARY SCHOOL v ALFRISTON SCHOOL FOOTBALL MATCH ON 25th MAY We went in the school minibus to go to the football match at the Downs Leisure Centre to play against Alfriston. The match started and we got off to a great start by Sam dribbling the ball into the box and shooting, to score our first goal of the game. A few minutes later, we got a corner. The ball got whipped in and Cameron tapped it in. After that we scored two more goals! In the second game, Sam scored a goal and then Alfriston took a centre. They took a shot and the goal keeper, Jack, caught it, booting it up the pitch. Sam got the ball, passed it to Ben who skilled out one of Alfriston defenders and nutmegged the other player. He then scored a goal for the team and then we went on to score two more goals! Altogether Seaford Primary scored 8 goals but Alfriston did put up a good game, even though they didn’t score. After the matches, we shook hands with everyone, grabbed our bags and we were off! It sounds very boring but in fact it was fun and very interesting! We learnt a lot about what you should do if you’re in an accident and you need help. Our favourite was the beer goggles you put them on like swimming goggles but when you put them on apparently that’s the feeling of when you’re drunk . The activities there were : Bike safety Alcohol safety Fire safety Railway safety Water safety Paramedics Road safety Public transport safety Stranger safety We had a great time and we really enjoyed it, we thank the teachers and the staff at Newhaven fort . By Jasmine and Sophie 6L Friday 1st July 2016 Children’s Celebratory Newsletter Year 5 trip to Brighton Museum On Tuesday 24th May, Year 5 went on a school trip to Brighton museum. We left at 9:00am and got on the train at 9:25am. Once we got to the museum we put our bags down and went outside for a snack. When we got back from our snack we came back in and had 45 minutes to look around the museum. We also had dressing up and activities to do. Whilst we were looking around, 5M were doing a workshop. Also we had different groups to go around with different adults in the museum. It was finally 5G’s turn to go to the workshop. The lady who was our guide who talked about the weighing of the heart ceremony for our learning adventure called ‘walk like an Egyptian’. In our workshop we did a role-play of the weighing of the heart ceremony. We had the Gods and the Pharaohs played by our class. Afterwards the whole of 5G did a mummification of a dummy. We had to take out the organs and we had to wrap them in linen and when we were wrapping it we had to wrap fake jewels in the wrapping as well. When we had finished the workshop we had lunch in a nice little garden next to the pavilion. Our train got cancelled so we had to get an earlier train to Seaford. When we got back to school we hung all our stuff up and then we had extra break. We had an amazing day! By Grace King and Chloe Allerston 5G Friday 1st July 2016 Children’s Celebratory Newsletter Chamber Choir performance 18 of the chamber choir members sang at the Downs Leisure Centre on Saturday 18th June and were a real credit to the school. They sang alongside 'Concentus', an adult choir from Eastbourne (70 mixed voices). They were blown away by the sound of our children. Eight children from Cradle Hill sang too. The behaviour was impeccable and the singing ‘out of this world’. ‘Zimbe’ (a collection of African songs) was the music for the 2nd half and the children sang in English, Zulu and Swahili! Lots of parents were awe-struck by ‘Zimbe’ and some were in tears with 'Where is love' (1st half) - it was so pure and beautiful and it echoed around the main hall. Bearing in mind that they arrived at 1:20pm & went home @ 8:45pm, they did an amazing job. Well done Chamber choir! Our Children of Courage! On 24th May Liam, Ben and Faye, in year 5, attended the Young Mayor’s Awards evening at Seaford Head Golf Club. All three children had been nominated for the category of Child of Courage - for how they cope with the daily trials of living with type 1 diabetes. They each received a certificate for their nomination and a star trophy for their courage. Well done to all of you for how you have dealt with living with type 1 diabetes, you are definitely children of courage. Friday 1st July 2016 Children’s Celebratory Newsletter Sports Days Thank you to everyone who came along to our Sports Days last week, the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and we hope you did too! Thank you to Mr Lloyd for organising the events and to MAD for providing refreshments.
