scheduled to go out this year. The designs
honor the 100th anniversary of the President
Abraham Lincoln penny. The first new penny will be put
into circulation on February 12, 2009, and each new design
will be released every three months throughout the year.

Penny Facts
• The U.S. Mint, produces 30 million pennies per day. (That’s about
1,040 pennies per second!)
• The United States has four mints which produce coins – located
in Philadelphia, PA; San Francisco, CA; Denver, CO; and
West Point, NY.
• The original small copper cent was released in 1864.
It featured an Indian Head on the front and Olive Wreath
on the back.
• Every time you get your allowance, put some
of it away. If you can save half, that would
be great! This is the most important thing
you can do.
• When you see something you want, wait at
least one week before you buy it. You’d be
surprised how many times you’ll change
your mind.
