England England is the biggest part of U.K, it has about 50 million inhabitants and is 130 000 square kilometres (kvadratkilometer= km2). The capital of England is London. London is also the capital of Great Britain, United Kingdom. There are big ports in London, Liverpool, Bristol and Newcastle. And the biggest industrial cities are Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield and Leeds. In the north and west of England there are more hills and many lakes. “The lake district” is Englands most popular area for tourists. In the south of England there are many farms, but not many lakes. The first railway came in 1825. London has the oldest underground, it is from 1863. The Chanaltunnel was ready in 1994 and goes between Folkstone in England, U.K, and Calais in France. Stonehenge is the most famous prehistoric site in Europe. It’s five thousand years old and consists a ring of enormous stones. Oxford is a very famous university town.
