2009 - 1 - Anderson Humane Society

Meeting: First Tuesday of each month at 6:30 at the public library
Anderson Humane Society
We are in need of blankets for the dogs at the shelter
to snuggle up in to keep warm. We are hoping some
of you have some old blankets that you would like to
donate. You can bring them to the adoption center
located at 1410 Versailles Road.
Lend A Helping Paw! Volunteer For The Humane Society!
We need volunteers to help at the Adoption Center!!!
(Open Monday-Friday 9:00-4:00, Saturday 10:00-12:00)
Includes greeting visitors, talking with potential adopters about pets they
might be interested in, helping with the adoption procedure, socializing the
dogs and cats, temperament testing and obedience training, replenishing
water bowls throughout the day, helping with repairs and maintenance,
yardwork and landscaping, minor help with cleaning dog and/or cat kennels,
sweeping and mopping floors, washing and drying laundry, answering the
phone, and taking messages. We will work around your schedule, and you
can work as many or as few hours as you'd like.
If you are a state employee, you can contribute to the Humane Society by having a
deduction taken from your paycheck each pay period. The KECC is the annual
workplace giving campaign for employees of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. You
can choose from the ones they have listed on their website, or you can choose to
donate to any organization you want to, besides what they have listed. The way you
do this is by writing in under "Other" on the KECC form the name and address of the
organization you would want your contribution to go to, and they will deduct it from
your paycheck and send it to the charity of your choice. If you want to donate, go to
www.kecc.org and then click on "Download A Pledge Card".
To donate to the Anderson Humane Society, fill in "Other" on Step 2:

Spotlight On:
#105 Jake-Sponsored (Black Labrador Retriever, Retriever)
"Hi. I'm Jake and I'm a scared little boy. I was playing with some kids up on
Woodford Street a couple of days ago and somehow I ended up out here.
That's a pretty busy area and the people there were afraid I'd get hit by a car,
so I had to come here where I'd be safe. I'm afraid of this place and I really
just want to go home. So if my owner doesn't come to get me, I'll be going up
for adoption." Thank you to Fred and Victoria Parker, who sponsored a
portion of Jake's adoption fee. Now he can go home at a reduced rate!
#3221 Rosey-Sponsored (Tabby - black)
"Hi. My name is Rosey and I'm a really dark colored spotted tabby who is out
at the shelter waiting for my new pet parents to come find me and fall in love. I
just know when they see me, they'll fall head over heels. And when I see
them, I'll know they're the right ones for me. So I'll be out here waiting for you
come see me. But don't wait long...I want to go home!" Thank you to Fred and
Victoria Parker, who sponsored a portion of Rosey's adoption fee. Now she
can go home at a reduced rate!
#94 Christian-Sponsored (Retriever Mixed)
"Hi. My name is Christian and even though I'm a little scared of the camera,
I'm not at all scared of people. I love people, actually! I'm a very friendly boy
and I'm not very old. Probably just a few months. Practically still a puppy. But
old enough to behave really well and not be all jumpy like most young dogs.
I'm at that age right in between and I'm so anxious to meet my new family!"
Thank you to Fred and Victoria Parker, who sponsored a portion of Christian's
adoption fee. Now he can go home at a reduced rate!
#233 Louie-Sponsored (Siamese Mixed)
"Hi. My name is Louie and I'm came here to the shelter with my two brothers,
Parker and Noah. Somebody found us down on Waddy Road and were nice
enough to bring us here, out of the cold. We're very young, just a couple of
months old and all three of us are anxious to meet our new families and spend
our first Christmas with them." Thank you to Fred and Victoria Parker, who
sponsored a portion of Louie's adoption fee. Now he can go home at a
reduced rate!

#80 Kyrie-Sponsored (Beagle Mixed)
"Hello there! My name is Kyrie and I'm a cute little beagle mix at the shelter
with the most adorable little pink nose! My owner brought me here and left
me. They said they were moving and couldn't take us with them...me and my
adopted sister Emma, that is. She's here too, so I hope you'll come and visit
us and maybe decide to adopt one of us and make us your own." Thank you
to Fred and Victoria Parker, who sponsored a portion of Kyrie's adoption fee.
Now she can go home at a reduced rate!
#113 Lance-Sponsored (Domestic Short Hair-gray)
"Hello. My name is Lance and I came to the shelter as a stray. There's not a
lot of space here at the shelter though and more kitties are arriving every
day, so I sure hope you'll come out to visit and maybe adopt one of us."
Thank you to Fred and Victoria Parker, who sponsored a portion of Lance's
adoption fee. Now he can go home at a reduced rate!
#53 Jenny-Sponsored (Beagle Mixed)
"Hello there! My name is Jenny and I'm a really sweet little dog that
somebody found on Saffell Street a few days ago. I was hanging around
looking for something to eat. Some kids there gave me a porkchop bone and
it was goooood. They played with me a little, but then I had to come out
here. I really thought my owner would come looking for me, but they haven't
shown up yet. I wonder why?" Thank you to Cheryl Rogers, who sponsored
a portion of Jenny's adoption fee. Now she can go home at a reduced rate!
#210 Powder-Sponsored (Domestic Short Hair-white)
"Hi. My name is Powder and I came here to the shelter as an owner turn-in.
Me and my brother both, actually. I'm not sure why we had to come here, but
I know we need to get out of here quick. There are lots of kitties here, with
more coming in every day and I don't want them to run out of room anytime
soon. So I hope you'll make a quick trip out here to see me and my brother
Spencer." Thank you to Fred and Victoria Parker, who sponsored a portion of
Powder's adoption fee. Now she can go home at a reduced rate!
