Mum's Night Off Update Mum’s Night Off Update NZPork’s Mum’s Night Off campaign has been running for over a month now and we are pleased to report that the campaign is doing well. As you are all aware, Mum’s Night Off is mainly a digital campaign meaning that most of the activity is happening on the website and social media. We are seeing good results in this area especially for the first month. The Facebook page, where a lot of engagement with consumers is happening, has seen growth to 10,506 followers (up from approximately 7500 in November last year). For its first month the website has had 23,151 of people visit it which is a great result and exceeds the industry average. Of those just under half have come to the site independently which shows that people are remembering the URL and going straight to the site (so has a result of seeing outdoor or magazine advertising). There have been 40,961 page views which is another great result. This shows the average person exploring the site are visiting on average 2 pages. To date, 54% of people are accessing the website via mobile/tablet versus 46% online which shows the mobile site is working effectively and is reflective of New Zealand web browsing norms. Mainstream media has slowed down significantly with nothing of note to report since our last update. For March, NZPork has been working with Shine around an online promotion called ‘Man up for March’. The purpose of this is to introduce the website’s ‘Dob in a dad’ and ‘Make a pledge’ features. Followers of the Facebook page have been really engaged around ‘tagging a mate’ to man up and put on an apron, and entering in competitions which required them to take a photo of themselves cooking NZ pork and upload it to the Facebook page. We have been seeing really positive commentary on the page as well. Finally, make sure you look out for more exiting promotions and competitions we will be bringing you over the coming weeks! If you have any questions or comments around the campaign please do not hesitate to contact us. Media Update The Press – Farmers Weekly NZPork contributed an article to the Christchurch Press South Island Farmer section titled “Innovation key to management” which spoke about the many environmental challenges our pig farmers, particularly those in Canterbury, are facing. The article was an important proactive opportunity to talk about the significant time and resources the NZ Pork industry has committed to projects centred on nutrient management and environmental initiatives. Hospitality Business Magazine NZPork has contributed an article about the different ways of cooking 100% NZ pork mince for the ‘In-Season’ section of the Hospitality Business magazine’s February issue. TVNZ – Rural Delivery NZPork has helped assist TVNZ’s Rural Delivery programme’s request for a story on an indoor pig farm in Canterbury. Filming and interviews were conducted on Jason Palmer’s farm early this month. We will keep you informed when the show is due to air. We Need You We are always keen to hear your stories so please don’t hesitate to get in touch with Rebecca Reed on 04 917 4755 or [email protected]. Industry Videos NZPork has produced a series of videos to demonstrate how we farm our animals. These can be accessed at www.nzpork.co.nz/on-farm-videos. As part of providing a mechanism to educate about the industry the videos will also be used as a resource for teachers in our schools starting from Term 3 this year. We are currently working with curriculum developers to get this in place. Thank you to those farmers who made their time and properties available to enable us to make the videos.
