FALL CELEBRATION This year East Elementary party day is Thursday, October 27th. To celebrate we will have a costume parade beginning at 2:00pm. Students will parade out the front door and around the block down Washington Ave. to Jefferson Ave. to Central Ave. to Ridgewood to Washington again. Costumes must be brought to school and worn over clothing. We will begin getting ready at 1:30pm. Costumes must follow school dress code guidelines, no violent attire, no swords, or weapons of any kind will be permitted. Any costume that does not follow the appropriate guidelines will not be allowed to be worn. Following the parade we will be playing school wide bingo and refreshments will be served in the classroom. We will need parent volunteers so please make sure you have your Urbana City Schools Volunteer/Release Form filled out and returned before party day. (Please get those to us in time for processing to be completed at Central Office.) We hope you can come join the fun, if you are just watching the parade outside, a volunteer form is not required. East Climber Club News - Box Tops for Education® We will be starting our annual box top collection contest this winter. Start saving your box tops now! Like us on Facebook : East Climber Club Outdoor Recess The weather seems to be changing quickly!! Remember to dress your children for outside recess. We will go out as long as it is not raining and the temperature is above 20 degrees. The students should have hats, coats, gloves or mittens please. FEES School fees for the 2016-2017 school year are due now. School fees are $33.00. Students will not receive grade cards on October 27st and will not be participating in fundraisers with outstanding fees. Those fundraisers are coming up soon, they include the Book Fair on Nov. 14th, the Tasty Traditions fundraiser January 30, and Picture Retake Day is November 22nd. Past years school fees and book fines need to be paid too. Remember that if your child receives free lunch, this year’s fees can be waived. Instructional fee waivers are available to those receiving free (not reduced) lunch prices this school year 2016-17. To receive the instructional fee wavier, the Sharing Information with Other Programs Form must be completed and returned. The forms were sent home with the free lunch approvals. If you need another copy, please call the office at 937-653-1453. Parent Access Did you know that you can use your Parent Access account to receive email alerts in regards to low grades and missing assignments? Once you log in to your Parent Access account, use the “Alerts” link on the left hand side to set the alerts you wish to have receive via email. The “Missing Assignments” alert will notify you any time a teacher marks an assignment as missing. The “Low Assignments Marks” alert allows you to set a threshold for low marks for each class. Simply check the box next to “Low Assignment Marks”, click the “Set Low Marks Settings” button and then choose a mark (letter grade) for each subject. You will receive an email each time a teacher enters a grade that is equal to or less than the letter grade you chose. NOTES FROM THE NURSE VISION & HEARING - The Ohio Department of Health requires that students in the fifth grade have their vision and hearing tested. If you have any concerns or do not wish to have your child screened, contact the nurse, Jodi Thompson. MEDICATION REMINDER– All medications, prescriptions and over the counter medicine (cough drops), must be ordered by a physician with proper paperwork and consent by the parent/guardian. If you have any questions or need a medication administration form, please contact the nurse, 937-653-1454. You may call the night before or early in the morning and leave a message on the voice mail. This calling policy is for your child’s protection. - There is no supervision on the playground until 8:15am. Students need to arrive once there is supervision. - Lunch costs >>>> Regular student lunch - $2.60, student reduced lunch - $.40, milk - $.50 - The Caring Kitchen is offering free after school tutoring from 3:00 – 5:30pm. The coordinator is Marilyn Cohn and the tutoring is held at the Caring Kitchen, 300 Miami St. - Student tickets for the Urbana High football games will be on sale in the office at East on Friday’s only from 2:30 – 3:30pm. Student tickets are $4.00, and we do not sell adult tickets. These tickets are good for any home football game. FALL PARTY DAY AT EAST OCTOBER 27th at 2:00PM
