Liz Wiseman: the Multiplier Effect Do you know leaders who have to be right? Whose ideas have to be accepted? How does that make you feel? What kind of leader do you want to be? Leadership Styles: Imagine someone you would follow. What characteristics does that person have? What is it about them that made you want to follow them? Did they make you enjoy the task/team they led? Did they listen to your input? In what situations would you potentially use each different leadership style? Now imagine someone you’ve had to follow who you would no longer volunteer to be on a team with. Why? (What characteristics did they display that turned you off?) Good Leadership and PTA Be Organized Have an agenda Make sure all speakers are prepared Keep meeting on topic and on agenda Utilize a Parking Lot Delegate Seek out and listen to everyone’s input: allow no one to be disrespected Ensure the actions of the board and your PTA are in compliance with your by‐laws and procedures and in line with the mission and vision of PTA. Be a good role model: ‐ Be respectful ‐ Abide by the rules yourself ‐ Publicly support the will of the majority ‐ Be aware of the impact of any social media posts you make: are you representing PTA well?
