Rainbow Room Newsletter November 2016
Hi Rainbow Room families and friend! The Rainbow
Room had a very busy month of October learning about
our community. With only two weeks until Thanksgiving,
we decided to do a shorter theme. Our new theme is the
play “The Gingerbread Man.” On Tuesday, November 22nd,
we will have a performance of our play at 9:00 am. We
encourage parents and families to come see the hard work
of the students.
Things needed for the next month:
Recycled materials for art- toilet paper tubes,
bubble wrap, tissue paper, packing peanuts etc.

Our Theme: The Gingerbread Man
Preschool Friendly Definition of a Play: Telling a
story by using your body to pretend to be a
character.
Preschool Friendly Definition of a Character: A
person in a story.
Targeted Vocabulary:
1.
Act: To pretend to be someone other than
yourself.
Key Concepts:
1.
Retelling a story: Sequencing the story of
The Gingerbread Man from beginning to end
(i.e. remembering the order of the
characters and what happens in the story).
Things to do at home:
1.
Retell the story at home! If you have a
copy of The Gingerbread Man, read it before
bed with your child!
2.
Act out different things at home: This
doesn’t need to be related to The
Gingerbread Man! Pretend to be different
animals, different people, different roles etc.
and talk about how it is different than being
yourself.
