There are many different religious communities represented in the city and in the University. Within the United Kingdom there is religious freedom to follow whatever religion you choose, and this freedom has been further protected by laws against Religious Discrimination and Harassment. We hope that you do not encounter any harassment or prejudice because of your religious practices or beliefs; but if you do, we would like to offer you our support. You can bring your concerns to the University Chaplain, the the Union Society, or to the University’s Equal Opportunity advisor, Julie Bullimore: [email protected] tel: 0191 222 3440. Newcastle Hindu Society The Hindu society is a student led group that represents and provides for any student following or interested in Hinduism. There are also regular opportunities to delve into Bollywood, traditional cuisine and sports. We are affiliated to the Union Society of the University and are led by an elected Executive Committee.
