amos la bienvenida a un nuevo año,
otro año más en el que, Entre Dos
Mundos pretende continuar siendo el portavoz, el altavoz de aquellas
personas que no la tienen, de los sin
papeles que son invisibles por su situación administrativa irregular, personas
en situación de precariedad, grupos especialmente vulnerables quienes pueden encontrar en las páginas del Journal
un confidente, a quien contar sus pensamientos, sentimientos y anécdotas,
porque las páginas del Journal son un
instrumento mediante el cual usted puede sacar a la luz todo aquello que tiene
dentro y que por temor o timidez no exterioriza. Procuramos que cada historia
sea contada, deseamos ser un lenitivo
para que pueda continuar con su camino, en busca de su proyecto de vida con
seguridad, respeto y libertad.
Durante todo este tiempo se escribió
un sinnúmero de artículos que se han
publicado y compartido con otras personas que se encuentran en algún lugar
del mundo y que posiblemente alguno
o alguna se identificó con esa historia o anécdota, pero no solo eso, también se han creado lazos de amistad,
de compañerismo de camaradería, se
ha logrado crear una red de contactos
entre las personas que llegan solas y que
encuentran en el compañero a un amigo
o amiga. Todas estas personas son una
parte importante y fundamental para la
continuación de EDM

En estos últimos años creí que la situación migratoria cambiaría para mejorar,
desgraciadamente no fue así, al contrario ha ido empeorando con las guerras y
la pobreza que obliga el desplazamiento

forzoso de miles de personas que atraviesan barreras físicas y naturales, expuestos a sufrir violencia, violaciones, a
ser captados por redes de trata de seres
humanos, a poner en peligro su vida ansiando salvarla.
Este nuevo año deseo desde el fondo de
mi corazón que cambie la situación de
estas personas y que puedan encontrar
la luz al final de un viaje tan oscuro y
peligroso, anhelo con mucha fuerza que
encuentren una mano amiga, un gesto
humano y solidario que haga su estancia
lo menos dolorosa posible.

H
ay momentos a lo largo de tu vida cotidiana en los
que las cosas que haces te resultan más o menos agradables, las haces con más o menos ilusión o ganas.
Puede ser tanto en cosas domésticas o profesionales, en
hobbies y aficiones… Se me ocurre, por citar solo un ejemplo uno de los trámites necesarios para realizar un viaje:
hacer la maleta. Suele ser agradable la que podríamos denominar fase de empaquetado cuando estamos decidiendo qué meter en la maleta, procurando no olvidar nada que
nos pueda hacer falta al llegar a nuestro destino; no es tan
agradable, por el contrario, la fase de desempaquetado
porque supone –entre otras cosas- que el viaje finalizó y
que se regresó a la rutina diaria.
Cambian las cosas cuando salimos de la cotidianeidad, el
agrado se diluye hasta prácticamente desaparecer. Llega
en su lugar el desagrado o la obligación. ¿Qué podría contaros sobre esto a muchos de los lectores de esta revista?
Nada novedoso que no sepan o que no hayan vivido. He leído algunas de vuestras experiencias, son realmente sobrecogedoras. Reitero mi admiración por vuestro valor, arrojo
y valentía.
El siguiente escalón se situaría ya en lo extraordinario,
en circunstancias excepcionales que nunca piensas que se
puedan producir. Lo cotidiano se convierte en un anhelo o
un sueño. No resulta muy difícil imaginar cuáles podrían
ser esas circunstancias excepcionales, lastimosamente las
estamos viviendo en los últimos meses. El caso de Siria
es uno de los penosos episodios que copan nuestra sobremesa en los noticiarios. La sola hipótesis de imaginar que
un conflicto armado se apodera de tu región o tu país es
tremendamente aterradora. Si además se traduce en que
la situación se hace tan insostenible como para tener que
abandonar tu ciudad, tu entorno, entonces entramos directamente en el drama humano. Cuando piensas que esto no
puede ser peor, compruebas que estás equivocado. Es posible si la situación bélica hace que te veas forzado a salir
de tu propio país en busca de un lugar seguro. Te estarás
aproximando, a tu pesar, a la condición de refugiado.
No quisiera crear un malentendido con mis palabras, por
eso intentaré precisarlas. Si la situación de un extranjero
sin papeles es difícil, la de un refugiado supera su dificultad. La falta de voluntariedad en su desplazamiento tiene
su origen en una guerra u otro tipo de conflicto armado que
destruye su país y mata a sus conciudadanos. ¿Puede haber
algo más desgarrador para una persona? Intuyo que las respuesta es negativa. En esas circunstancias tu equipaje se
limita a lo que puedas portar durante tu recorrido: un hato,
una mochila, una maleta, bolsas de plástico.
Recientemente he podido visitar una escalofriante exposición organizada por el organismo que dirige a los Abogados
de España que me ha dejado el cuerpo paralizado. Comprobar los testimonios de refugiados es realmente impresionante: sus recorridos, sus vivencias en los lugares de paso,
las pertenencias que llevaban…
El simbolismo que han otorgado a la maleta es fácilmente
identificable, transmite la idea de la dura decisión que toman los que se ven obligados a salir huyendo de sus ciudades, de sus países. Es una situación que debería hacernos
reflexionar a Europa pero que no parece haberlo conseguido. Olvidamos fácilmente que el pasado siglo XX sufrimos
en nuestro territorio nada más y nada menos que dos guerras mundiales.

Climate change
ew Facts: Global climate change will affect people and the environment in many ways. Some of these impacts, like stronger hurricanes and severe heat waves, could be life threatening. Others,
like spreading weeds, will be less serious. And some effects, like longer
growing seasons for crops, might even be good! However, as the Earth
keeps getting warmer, the negative effects are expected to outweigh the
positive ones. Climate change - combined with these stresses - makes impacts worse. Extremes of drought and flooding will become more common,
causing displacement and conflict. If global warming remains on its upward
path, by 2050 just 5% of Australia’s Great Barrier Reef – the world’s largest
coral reef – will remain. It’s not only a tragedy for wildlife: the whole world
relies upon natural resources of the Earth for survival.

God created our mother Earth in orderly and beautiful manner. Everything was connected with each other in mutual cooperation. Living organisms
shared intimate relationships with each other. God appointed the human
beings as the guardians of nature. Unfortunately Human Self centeredness
and lust are destroying the creation of God. In the name of development and
modernization we are polluting the atmosphere and breaking the bond with
creation. Human consumption resulted in the destruction of environment.
Due to this attitude temperature increases on earth which leads to drastic
change in the climate, which turns into self destructive for human race.
How are we looking at God’s creation? If we look at the creation
with the attitude of commodity, then we must change our attitude. We must
learn to have peace with God’s creation. We must consider ourselves as part
of the Earth. Then we must allow the eco-system to thrive along with us
in order to maintain the eco-balance. Let us listen to the cry of the nature
that dwells among us; let us cultivate the heart to protect grasslands in our
villages to keep our mother earth green and fertile to provide happiness to
millions and millions of the other living beings. We must constantly remind
ourselves that we are not alone in this earth to take dominancy over it, but
we are called to share the life space and to lead harmonious life with all life
forms. God created the world for our need and not for our greed. Thank you.

EVELYN CARNEY THE MISSIONARY LADY
S
ri Lanka became under the British rule in the latter
part of 18th century. The Sri Lankans were given the
liberty to select a religion of their choice during the
British rule. Hence in 1803, the foreign Christian Missionary
groups were allowed to visit Sri Lanka. Most of these missionary groups started spreading the Gospel together with
education and providing Sri Lankan community with other
welfare services.
In AD 1818, the CMS missionaries from England landed in
Sri Lanka. Thalawa was a village in Anuradhapura. The road
to approach Thalawa was through the deep forest and wild
animals were a heavy sight. The villagers were very poor,
and were mostly affected by dangerous ailments such as
Malaria and leprosy. They only had one set of clothes, which
they wore. In the latter part of 19th century the British
Christian Missionary Lady Evelyn Carrey decided to serve in
this area. Though the CMS Missionaries were not very happy
about her decision, she and a young girl named Margaret
landed in Sri Lanka and travelled by horse back from Matale
to Thalawa. This was the surprising beginning of her serving
this community at Thalawa. She gave up the luxuries and
grabbed the village lifestyle. The villagers were physically not healthy. It was so pathetic to look at the cropped
forward bellies of children due to malnutrition. Lady Evelyn Carney used a bullock cart or travelled by foot to get a
better view of the village and their sufferings. The villagers
preferred her friendship. Her work was mainly among the
children, women and the elderly.
She entered the shanty clay houses with her magic lantern
and would show pictures and teach lot of things to these
people. She introduced more very humble ways in doing her
missionary work to suite the Sri Lankan culture and behavior. According to St. Mark’s Gospel 7 : 15, «Evil ideas come
from the human mind». If we put Kohomba oil into a vessel
and after we finish and try to wash it, the awful smell cannot be taken out. Likewise, mind’s evil ideas, cannot be
cleaned. She conveyed to them that only God’s Word could
make a new mind in them. She would spend the whole day
with these people and only go back to her residence after
darkness fell, with the aid of the torch made of dry coconut
leaves.
She travelled to England to see her ailing father. After her
father’s death in 1912 she started on a retreat before her
return to Sri Lanka. With the bible quotation she reflected she got enlightened for her future. It was that «God is

weekly guiding us, and He is our guide, until our death».
Lady Evelyn Carney retumed to Thalawa, deciding to fully
dedicate her balance life to Thalawa. She built four additional rooms for her residence, and named them «House of
Joy». She used one room as a medical clinic. After this she
started to construct eight clay houses in close proximity and
named them «Sandyawa» (relax), and provided elderly and
poor people shelter. She built a sub house to help the young
girls, to come and learn reading, writing, scotch stitch and
sewing. She also constructed a village medical centre to
develop these poor villager’s physical health conditions.
She refurbished this medical centre and extended a maternity section too. This place provided the mother’s clean
confinement and delivery and the children’s health conditions were attended to and given necessary treatment. Dr.
Ann John came forward to help Lady Evelyn Camey in this
great task. This made deaths of pregnant mothers reduced
drastically.
"Home of Happiness" clinic and "Home of light" matemity
hospital was built afterwards. Since Lady Evelyn Carney
cared and loved the villager's they called her "Sudu Amma".
When a time these people struggled in difficulty and danger Lady Evelyn Carney sacrificed her life to uplift these
people's lives. With this "Home of Happiness Society" was
initiated and with volunteer donations a small chapel was
built in Thalawa.
When she intended to support the children without parents
to direct them in the noble path, the government gifted her
with a five acre land. The house which was built on this land
was named "Udawa". She gave her evening hours to develop
these children's lives. This earlh's Angelwhen she was 84
years old, she left her residence to give a pair of spectacles
to a 94 year old person, when she got caught to a heavy
shower. Since she was old and feeble she infected typhoid
fever which quickened her path to the Lord Almighty. The
day she celebrated her birthday with her friends, she was
called to be with the Lord.
Lady Evelyn Carney who gave up the luxuries of England
and lived among the down trodden people of Sri Lanka will
not be forgotten and would be valued and glorified forever.
She gave her whole life, wealth and her time voluntarily to
uplift the lives of the poor, needy and the sick which was a
challenge to the Sri Lankan Christian community.
The example that Lady Evelyn Carney made from her life
gives the real meaning of "Missionary Service".

Jesus. Zacchaeus' spiritual life was open as he yearned to
see Jesus and he at once obeyed to Jesus and at the same
time he repented for his sins and asked for forgiveness. He
became a good man and he promised to give back all the
money he had cheated and Jesus said "Salvation has come
to this home."
Once Jesus told people who are well do not need a doctor,
but only the sick need a doctor. Also he told "l have not
come to save the righteous but to save the unrighteous.
Jesus came into this world led a normal life and sacrificed
his life on the cross to bring salvation to all humanity. Do
you want to change your life as Zacchaeus did. ? Are you
prepared to pay any price for Jesus ? We must be able to
set aside our pride and accept our Lord with a willing heart.
Jesus is waiting for you and me to come to him and He
always knocks at our door and we just ignore. Do you think
money position and power would give you peace of mind.
No never, only if we go to Christ with repentance we can
have that everlasting peace. He will never cast anyone who
turns to Him. Believe in the Lord. Repent like Zacchaeus
and go to Jesus with open arms. Then we will be able to
experience the true meaning of salvation.
Let us humble ourselves and be like Christ and this world
will be a better place. God bless you all

They levied high taxes and the people were in misery.
Zacchaeus was the leading tax collector. His job was to collect the taxes and hand it over to the Roman Government.
He collected more from the people and became a very rich
man. People hated him and they called him a sinner. Any
how he may not have been happy about his wrong deeds.
He may have heard about Jesus and he may have wanted
to change his life style. On the day jesus passed Jerico he
would have come to know about it and he was eager to see
him whole heartedly. He was a short person, and he found
it difficult to se him. What did he do next? Like a small
child he ran to a zycomore tree and climbed to have a good
view of Jesus. His little thought of seeing Jesus changed his
sinful life dramatically. We see in the Bible how Jesus took
small incidents to teach life's values. When Jesus came to
the tree where Zacchaeus was all eyes were on him. The
people around were surprised to see Jesus calling to him by
his name and asking him to get down from the tree. How
happy he must have been. No one ever called him by his
name as he was branded as a sinner. He was overjoyed. This
is a good lesson for us not to brand or name anyone as a bad
person. Our duty as Christians is to bring the black sheep to

ÊTRE ÉTRANGER :
UN AVANTAGE OU INCONVENIENT DANS LA RÉUSSITE ?
E
n Suisse, les étrangers présentent un taux d’environ
20% de la population. Ce pays est un lieu qui accueil
beaucoup d’étrangers. Ce pays avec 194 nationalités
possibles, fait de lui un pays multiculturel. Dans un canton, comme celui de Genève, 180 nationalités différentes
résident.
Nous nous sommes demandés si les personnes de nationalité Suisse réussissent mieux que les étrangers, dans le domaine des études et celui du travail.
Nous avons tendance à penser qu’en étant Suisse, ou bien,
être né en Suisse est une opportunité pour réussir ses
études et avoir un bon métier. Généralement, les étrangers
qui viennent en Suisse afin de trouver un emploi, prennent
ceux qui sont inappréciés. La raison de quitter leur pays
natal et de rejoindre la Suisse, est en effet d’avoir une
meilleure vie ou bien, une survie. Quelconque métier proposé est de bienvenu. Mais pour leurs enfants ? Suivront-ils
le même parcours que leurs parents ?
Non, ou bien, très rarement. Lorsque les parents ont dû
travailler dans les lieux inappréciés, c’est parce qu’ils
n’avaient pas de choix. Les migrants qui viennent trouver
un emploi, ne vont pas choisir le quel. Ils prennent ce qu’ils
trouvent, ce qui leur est proposés. Cependant, ils encouragent leurs enfants à suivre des études et faire ce qu’ils
n’ont pas eu la chance d’effectuer eux-mêmes. Travailler
dans le secteur tertiaire plutôt que dans le secteur primaire. « J’ai dit à ma fille, ne fait rien, je paye tout, mais
toi fait des études. Je n’ai pas envie que mes enfants se
retrouvent dans le même cas que moi, à prendre ce que les
autres ne veulent pas », nous confie M. Ali.
« J’ai vécu en Albanie, je connais la vie la bas. Je ferais
tout pour ne pas y retourner vivre. J’aime bien passer les
vacances, mais y vivre je ne pourrais pas. Il n’y a pas de
travail, mêmes avec des études supérieurs. La mentalité
est complètement différente. Je me donne à fond pour
mes études ici, en Suisse, dans le but d’avoir une vie indépendante », témoigne Sara. Nous remarquons une grande
motivation de réussir.
Nous allons prendre deux exemples. Un exemple qui illustre
le parcours d’une suissesse (Alice), et un autre d’une étrangère (Fidela), venue en Suisse il y a neuf ans.
Alice est née en Suisse. Elle a 22 ans. Actuellement, elle
fait ses études à l’Ecole de Culture Général (ECGa) le soir
afin d’avoir un diplôme dans la filière du social. Alice avait
effectué ses études à l’ECG, filière communication, où elle
a échoué. Avant d’avoir entamé l’ECG, elle a commencé
les études à l’école de commerce, où elle n’a également
pas réussit.
Fidela est étrangère, elle a 19 ans. Actuellement, elle poursuit ses études à la Haute Ecole du Travail Social. Fidela est
arrivée en Suisse il y a maintenant 9 ans. Tout d’abord,
elle a appris le français, ensuite elle a suivie l’école obligatoire (Cycle). Elle a fini l’ECG, où elle est diplômée dans
la filière du social. Elle a continuée en faisant la maturité
spécialisée de cette filière, et aujourd’hui, elle a entamé
ses études afin de devenir travailleuse sociale.
Alice et Fidela sont amies, elles se sont retrouvées dans
la même classe à l’ECG, lorsqu’Alice était dans la filière
communication.
Nous avons demandé à ces deux jeunes filles de nous expliquer ce parcours. Les questions que nous nous posons sont:
pourquoi Alice échoue, alors que Fidela non?
Alice: « Je pense que j’étais et je suis dans un très grand
confort. Je ne me suis jamais imaginé « sans rien », car
j’avais toujours mes parents qui me soutenaient financièrement. Pour moi, l’école c’était plutôt un « passe-temps ».
J’y allais, mais je ne faisais rien pour réussir. Ensuite, quand
j’ai vu que les autres avancent et pas moi, je me suis remis
en question. Mais à ce moment, j’avais beaucoup de problèmes de famille. Le divorce de mes parents m’a beaucoup
perturbé dans mes études, au moment où tout aller bien, au
moment où je me suis repris en main. Les moments que je
passais avec Fidela étaient très enrichissantes, elle me parlait beaucoup de son stage. Elle m’a motivée à choisir cette
filière, qui me donne une deuxième chance pour réussir. »
Fidela: « Mon seul objectif est de réussir mes études et d’être
indépendante. Je ne veux jamais dépendre de mes parents.
Je fais partie de cette « deuxième génération, issue de

l’immigration ». Je remercie mes parents de m’avoir ramenée dans ce pays, le reste, c’est à moi de construire. »
Ci-dessus, nous voyons deux situations avec des motivations très différentes. Tous les cas ne sont pas de cette
façon, bien évidemment, nous avons seulement choisi
celui-ci pour montrer une très grande différence de ce
qu’on peut penser, et ce qui est réellement.
D’après l’étude de « La mobilité intergénérationnelle de
la formation et du revenu en Suisse: comparaison entre
Suisses et immigrés », les enfants issus de l’immigration
et « dont les parents sont faiblement qualifiées utilisent
mieux les possibilités de formation qui leur sont offertes
que les enfants suisses. D’un autre côté, la mobilité du
revenu est légèrement plus faible chez les étrangers que
chez les Suisses ».
On peut mettre en lien avec ce que Sara évoquait. Une

valve. So her heart was not pumping as it should.
She could not sleep well and felt miserable. At that time
I heard of a child that had a problem with its heart, and
then, after some time the wrong thing in its heart had
corrected itself. This gave me the idea and especially the
courage and boldness for my son and me to pray to God
and ask him to heal his grandmother’s heart. So for a
couple of weeks we prayed to the Lord and asked him to
repair the heart of my mother, just like that child’s heart
had also been healed. And praying like that, thinking
of the story of the child, we had a confidence that our
prayers would be answered. After perhaps a month, my
mother woke up in the middle of the night and felt very
good. She decided to go to the heart clinic. The nurses
there told her « we can not believe it is you mrs van Eijsden». My mother later on told us that when that sudden
recovery took place she told herself « this must be because of the prayers». She bought herself a secondhand
car and started living again.

UKRAINAIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH
Nationalism and the restriction of individual rights
I
n our country we had revolution two years ago. The authorities and our government was changed. Our country has lost
the Crimea region. In our two regions has been starting national war.
What happened with the Ukraine? This question is asked by
more and more people of the whole world now. Why is the desire of people to live better, to better fed, to turned around a
crashing economy, the impoverishment of the majority of the
population, war, devastation, and easier to say catastrophe
that threw Ukraine back many decades ago? In my opinion, the
main reason that led to today’s modern Ukraine catastrophe
is an UKRAINIAN NATIONALISM. Like a cancer it afflicted huge
layers of the Ukrainian society. It is based on the inordinate
pride, vanity, and a century-old Ukrainian inferiority complex.
Ukrainian nationalism (as well as any nationalism) proclaimed
the supreme value of human life belonging to one single ethnic group of people at the same time giving birth to hatred of
everything non-Ukrainian.
Ukrainian nationalism - political ideology and social and political movement that aims at the creation and development of
an independent Ukrainian nation-state and/or the protection
of national identity. Nationalism requires national consciousness, awareness of the national community of people.
UKRAINIAN NATIONALISM is the idea of the superiority of the
Ukrainian nation over other nations and peoples. In fact,
Ukrainian nationalism is a phenomenon purely political, with
an artificial character, emerged in the Austro-Hungarian Empire and in the territory of present-day Poland.
The modern ideology of the Ukrainian authorities is based on
the writings of the founder of «Ukrainian nationalism integral»
Dontsov and the main program positions of the Organization of
Ukrainian Nationalists - OUN. Already in 1923 Dontsov creates
its nationalist doctrine, “in society, as in nature, dominates
the law of the struggle for existence, the law of the eternal
rivalry between nations. This idea is irreconcilable, uncompromising, fanatical, «immoral» for their prescriptions is only that
in the interest of species. These signs marked every major national idea, and this, and nothing makes her such an explosive
force in history”.
Unfortunately, all Ukrainian right-wing organizations agree
with such policy. Their slogans are «Ukraine for Ukrainian! God
created us Ukrainian and let His will be hallowed forever. We
defend the will of God. Our ideology: the ideology of Ukrainian
nationalism as self-Nation. Our policy: Ukraine above all! Our
struggle: the power of the Nation. Our enemies: communism,
cosmopolitanism, liberalism...». The state is dominant in the
whole...
The nation does not want to «just» sanctify by religion. The
nation becomes a religion itself. Nationalism is a substitute
for religion: to live, to die, to suffer, to love and hate in the
name of the nation becomes more virtuous than suffering in
the name of an abstract God. The religious homogeneity - one
country, one religion, one church – is seen as a condition of
consolidation of the state. Religious dissidents, as well as religious radicals who believe that only one Jesus Christ and none
other is the head of the Church, are considered a threat to
national churches and persecuted. This, by the way, actually
means that a threat to the nation-state becomes the canonical
Orthodox Church.
There are 5 official Churches in Ukraine: Ukrainian Canonical Orthodox Churches, Ukrainian Orthodox Churches of Kiev
Patriarchate (schismatics), Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox
Church, Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church and Roman Catholic
Church.
Ukrainian Orthodox Church is the largest Orthodox denomination in Ukraine. There are 53 dioceses, 84 bishops and
10169 priests carrying out their ministry in Ukrainian Orthodox Church. There are 12334 communities and 207 monasteries with 4847 monks and nuns. Note the number of religious
schools where are future clergymen currently educated. In
general the UOC has 19 such schools, and the number of students at the beginning of this school year was 4861 persons.
Very different statistical measures of the other two major
denominations of Ukraine «Kyiv Patriarchate» and the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church. There are 3332 and 723
«clergy» respectively ONLY these religious organizations. The
amount of the monks and nuns in the «Kiev Patriarchate» and
«Autocephalous Church» is 211 and 19 respectively. Thus in
these denominations there are 36 and 12 bishops. The number
of schools in «the UOC KP» is almost the same as in the Orthodox Church - 18 institutions. However, those wishing to learn
the spiritual discipline are more than 3 times smaller than in
the Ukrainian Orthodox Church - 1230 people.
Who is the most discriminatory church in Ukraine? The Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Human rights activists have recorded
127 crimes against the UOC and transmit data to the OSCE.
Here, the capture of religious buildings, firing church buildings, shelling, attacks on priests, terror and murder, the pressure from the authorities (infringement of the rights of the
UOC, forcing a change of jurisdiction) and defamation in the
media. All these crimes are based on the rhetoric of hate with
the aim: incite hatred. All this is widely used as a radical organization, and, unfortunately, some government officials and
even the leaders of certain denominations.
The Article 35 of the Constitution of Ukraine: “Everyone has
the right to freedom of beliefs and religion. This right includes

the freedom to profess any religion or profess no religion, to
freely practice religious rites and ceremonial rituals, alone or
collectively, and to pursue religious activities”.
On September 21 2015 in the village Katerynivka representatives of the Kiev Patriarchate supported troops of the Right
Sector who captured St. George Orthodox Church. They proclaimed it to be their own church. When the faithful Orthodox
people tried to enter the church, armed men in camouflage
and balaclava with representatives of the Kiev Patriarchate
responded with brutal aggression. People were beaten with
batons and finished off on the earth. According to witnesses,
the Interior Ministry workers not defended the law and the
safety of the faithful Orthodox Church, but also took part in
the slaughter. Some people were seriously injured, among
them - a concussion and fractures of fingers. As a result of
the fight about 20 people from the faithful of the UOC were
seriously injured and needed medical care.
A year ago, on 25 August 2015, the terrible news swept Kyiv
– that on the stairs in the entrance of his house the Orthodox
Church priest Roman Nikolaev was shot. Unknown people brutally murdered nun Alevtina from the Kiev Florovsky monastery. Examination showed that during the beating all the ribs of
the woman were broke and all internal organs were injured,
she was strangled. The victim was 64 years old. The woman
not occupy high positions in the monastery. She was an ordinary and humble nun.
The activists painted over the image of Jesus Christ, created
by artists on the wall of the former traffic police post in the
town of Baranovka Zhytomyr region. The image face protesters regarded as a manifestation of separatism. Image of Jesus
Christ with the Gospel quote «Love your neighbor as yourself»
was created on the outer wall of the former post of GAI. It
was planned for the City Day, 21 September, to put the sacred
images on another wall traffic police post. «Any manifestation
or hint of separatism or the» Russian world «, we will root out,
in spite of the ranks or the party affiliation. Tomorrow, on the
occasion of the 25th anniversary of Independence, we are put
national flags.» - Said Oleg Kovalsky.
June 27, 2016 the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Onuphrius invited all Ukrainian Orthodox to take part in the National
procession peace, love and prayers for Ukraine. In the procession over 100 thousand people attended. Two processions
simultaneously came from the West and the East of Ukraine
to pray for peace and tranquillity in Ukraine. On the way to
Kyiv the procession met radicals and provocateurs. The roads
were blocked and mines set. People always searched for the
weapon. Many people threw eggs and other items to icons and
people. People were allowed to enter the city only through
metal detectors. Ukrainian sacred procession, despite attempts by some provocation and opposition forces, peacefully
ended in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.
I want to ask if you can imagine that in one of Europe’s countries one confession is captured by force by the church of another denomination by mass beating of believers and clergy,
with the support of the authorities. Not the community decides the question of confessional belonging, but paramilitary
groups who attack by aircraft. I’m not talking about Germany
in the 30s of the 20th century, but about the modern Ukraine.
These crimes the Ukrainian government wants to legalize at
the legislative level. This is very bad. Now Parliament wants to
pass a law number 4511, which proposes to give special status
to UOC like to Jewish ghettos during Nazi Germany. Ukrainian
authorities receive the right to monitor the internal life of the
Church. This happened during Stalin’s regime.
Being universal by nature, the Church is at the same time one
organism, one body (1 Cor. 12:12). She is the community of the
children of God, «a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an
holy nation, a peculiar people… which in time past were not a
people, but are now the people of God» (1 Pet. 2:9-10). The
unity of these new people is secured not by its ethnic, cultural
or linguistic community, but by their common faith in Christ
and Baptism. The new people of God «have no continuing city
here, but seek one to come» (Heb. 13:14). The spiritual homeland of all Christians is not earthly Jerusalem but Jerusalem
«which is above» (Gal. 4:26). The gospel of Christ is preached
not in the sacred language understandable to one people, but
in all tongues (Acts. 2:3-11). The gospel is not preached for
one chosen people to preserve the true faith, but so that «at
the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven,
and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every
tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of
God the Father» (Phil. 2:10-11).
The universal nature of the Church, however, does not mean
that Christians should have no right to national identity and
national self-expressions. On the contrary, the Church unites
in herself the universal with the national. Thus, the Orthodox Church, though universal, consists of many Autocephalous National Churches. Orthodox Christians, aware of being
citizens of the heavenly homeland, should not forget about
their earthly homeland. The Lord Jesus Christ Himself, the Divine Founder of the Church, had no shelter on earth (Mt. 8:20)
and pointed that the teaching He brought was not local or
national in nature: «the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in
this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father» (Jn.
4:21). Nevertheless, He identified Himself with the people to
whom He belonged by birth. Talking to the Samaritan woman,
He stressed His belonging to the Jewish nation: «Ye worship
ye know what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of
the Jews» (Jn. 4:22). Jesus was a loyal subject of the Roman
Empire and paid taxes in favour of Caesar (Mt. 22-16-21). St.
Paul, in his letters teaching on the supranational nature of
the Church of Christ, did not forget that by birth he was «an
Hebrew of the Hebrews» (Phil. 3:5), though a Roman by citizenship (Acts 22:25-29).
The cultural distinctions of particular nations are expressed in
the liturgical and other church art, especially in the peculiarities of Christian order of life. All this creates national Christian
cultures.
Patriotism means if I am a patriot, I want well-being for my
land and my nation. How can I get welfare? Who bestows this
welfare? This is God! It is God who bestows His blessing, not
we! This is the way for each of us: if you serve God faithfully,
fulfil God’s laws, statutes, rules, you’re the best patriot ever
because thanks to your godly life and awareness of your sins
the Lord sends his blessing for our land, our people. Unless I do
it, I live contrary to the Laws of God and no matter how hard I
might thump my chest saying I’m a great patriot – I do harm to
myself, my people, my land. Why? Because a sinful tabernacle
cannot accept God’s grace. Thus, our Church has always been
patriotic but we manifest it with calling people to live with
God, to find peace in God. In this we find our joy, by this we
seek God’s grace for our land and our nation.
Anyone troubled period of history inevitably ends. It is necessary to change the TV channels of their owners as to begin
mass clearing of consciousness and occurrence thousands of
people who «always know who is who.»
And if a person considers himself a Christian, he must keep in
mind the words: «... Beware of false prophets, which come to
you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves
... By their fruits will know them. Even so every good tree
bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil
fruit «(Jer 23, 16, Matthew 24, 41 Jn 4: 1).
Why should I do so? Because the country could save rather the
flames of the hearts of the believers than hot heads, because
in the Last Judgment we will be asked Creed rather than the
national hymn.

We’d believe that it is possible

이주민들을 위한 아름다운 보금자리
어느 사회나 이주민들은 존재한다. 그러나 그들을 위한 따뜻한 보금자리가 얼마나
존재하는지는 사회마다, 지역마다 다르다. 내가 사는 동네인 대한민국 대전광역시
에는 이주민들을 위한 보금자리들이 다양한 모습으로 존재하고 있다. 특별히 동남
아시아에서 결혼을 하기 위해 이주해 온 여성들, 일자리를 찾기 위해 온 사람들에게
일자리를 제공해주고 한국어를 배울 수 있는 기회들과 한국의 문화와 사회 등을 알
리는 사회복지 기관들이 점점 늘어나고 있다.
2016년 11월 7일. 5개월 동안의 학업을 위해 방문한 스위스에 이주민들을 위한 복지
기관들이 얼마나 존재하고 있고, 어떻게 운영이 되고 있는지 궁금하던 찰나, 수업의
일환으로 Espace solidaire pâquis를 방문하게 되었다. 교회 예배당을 사회 복지를
위해 내어준 선교의 살아있는 장을 알게 되어 기쁘다. 방문하는 모든 이들에게 따뜻
한 차/커피를 제공하고, 이주민들이 수준별로 불어를 배울 수 있는 교육의 장, 컴퓨
터 사용, 다문화 공연 등을 열어 아름다운 사회가 되어가는데 동참하고 있다. 이주민
들을 섬기는 이 사회적 활동은 각 교회들이 얼마나 사회의 소외 당하고 있는 자들에
게 손을 내밀고 함께 어우러져 살고 있는지 돌아보게 한다.
바라기는 이곳을 위한 정부의 지원과 사회기구들의 관심/후원들이 계속되었으면 한
다. 또한 스위스에 있는 이주민들이 이 단체를 통하여 사회에 잘 적응하고 행복한 삶
을 영위해가길 바란다. 이곳을 위해 자신의 재능을 기부하고 사랑을 베푸는 모든 손
길 위에 하나님의 평안이 언제나 가득하길 바라며, 계속해서 더 많은 이들에게 사랑
과 평화를 전하는 단체가 되기를 기도한다.

I have a home, when I bring my baggage and closed the door of that a moment, the home became
my "distant place"! I walked through a high mountain. I passed by the river, I looked at the white
clouds and stars. I have a "happy" and "crying". I was in a strange place, the one's own little world of
fantasy, and miss my "distant place". One day, I stop, push the door, here, I have a "home", a "distant
place" home!

Saveurs d’ici et d’ailleurs avec

Pour 6 personnes
Ingrédients

Pour la purée de fraises, il faut :
4 jaunes d’œuf
6 cuillères à soupe de sucre
500 grammes de fraises, parées
500 grammes de mascarpone
2 cuillères à soupe de sucre
4 blancs d’œuf, battus fermement
1 cuillère à café de sucre vanillé
Preparation
1 cuillère à soupe de kirsch ou de
grappa
200g de biscuits
2 cuillères à soupe de cacao en poudre
Quelques fraises/fruits pour décorer
Préparation: env. 35 min
réfrigération: min. 6 h
Crème: battre les jaunes d’oeuf et le sucre jusqu’à l’obtention d’une mousse claire. Ajouter le
mascarpone. Incorporer délicatement les blancs en neige.
Purée de fraises: découper 300 g de fraises en morceaux. Mélanger le sucre et le sucre vanillé, saupoudrer sur les fraises, mélanger, laisser macérer 5 min. Réduire en purée et ajouter du kirsch ou
de la grappa, selon les goûts. Détailler le reste des fraises en morceaux, incorporer.
Disposer la moitié des biscuits dans le plat, répartir la moitié de la purée de fraises, puis recouvrir
de crème au mascarpone. Procéder de même avec le reste des ingrédients.
Réserver au moins 6 h à couvert au réfrigérateur.
Saupoudrer de cacao juste avant de servir et décorer de fraises.
