Countryside Community Theatre - $500 (1) Awarded to student who has been an active member in a CCT production either on or behind stage, and pursuing a major or minor degree in Fine Arts. Ambrose Kearney Memorial Scholarship - $250 (1) Awarded to a graduate who attended Virgil Grissom Elementary. Donahue Lions Club - $300 (2) Awarded to area residents pursuing educational advancement. Eldridge - North Scott Chamber of Commerce - $300 (2) Awarded to a business major at any Iowa post-secondary college. Eldridge Lions Club Scholarship - $500 (6) Awarded to an Eldridge resident who has demonstrated a minimum of 25 hours of community service in the North Scott area during their high school years. When listing community service, specify the particular duties/jobs performed. Jack Grolmus Memorial Scholarship - $500 (1) Preference will be given to students studying business or retail management. q q q q q Bret Miller Memorial Scholarship - $500 (1) Awarded to any North Scott graduate planning to pursue a degree in automotive studies. The degree can be obtained at a junior college or trade school. q North Scott Kiwanis Scholarship - $500 (2) Applicant must be a Key Club member/Service Learning student. q Jeremy Moreland Memorial Scholarship - $500 (1) Awarded to a student majoring in special education or speech/occupational therapy. Long Grove Civic League - $500 (1) Preference will be given to students from the Long Grove area who have demonstrated community service involvement. Long Grove Lions Club - $500 (1) Awarded to a student residing in the Long Grove area. Long Grove Sportsman Club - $500 (1) Awarded to a student committed to an environmental, ecological, agricultural or veterinary field of study. q q q National Wildlife Turkey Federation - $500 (1) Awarded to a student committed to an environmental, ecological, agricultural or veterinary field of study. North Scott Optimist Club Scholarships - $500 (2) Awarded to one male and one female student with GPA’s between 2.5 and 3.0. Applicants must be active in extracurricular activities with more than 30 hours of community service. Applicants must submit a 200-400 word essay based on one of the tenets of the Optimist International Creed (www.optimist.or/e/creed.cfm). North Scott Education Association Scholarship - $100 (5) Awarded to one student from each North Scott Elementary School. (Circle which school you attended). Neil Armstrong Alan Shepard John Glenn Ed White Virgil Grissom North Scott Rotary Scholarship - $1,000 (2) Awarded to graduates of North Scott, Davenport North and Assumption high schools. One is the “Dorothy White Performing Arts Scholarship” for a student who will be studying performing arts. (One of the two will be awarded to a North Scott student.) North Scott Soccer Club - $200 (2) Awarded to one male and one female soccer player. Park View Women’s Club - $500 (2) Awarded to a student who has been a resident of Park View since January 1, 1999. PFLAG Scholarship - $500 (1) Awarded to a gay or straight student who supports inclusion. Applicant must submit an essay of up to 250 words on the topic: “Why inclusion matters.” Blake Sievers Memorial Scholarship - $500 (1) Awarded to a student who will be entering an agriculture-related area of study. St. Ann’s Knights of Columbus Scholarship - (Number of scholarships and amounts will be determined by St. Ann’s Scholarship and Knights of Columbus Scholarship committees.) Awarded to seniors who are active members of St. Ann’s Parish. Applicants must write a personal letter showing their Christian attitude through active involvement at St. Ann’s and the community in the following areas: Word, worship, Christian service, social events and retreats. Twigg Memorial Scholarship - $250 (1) Awarded to a member of the golf, softball, baseball or bowling team during the junior and senior year of high school. ESSAY QUESTION - All scholarship applicants, for both NSEF and Community Scholarships, must write a 1-2 page essay on the following topic. What attribute, quality or skill do you respect and admire in an influential person in our community? Explain why you picked this trait as admirable and something to be emulated. Support your answer with concrete and memorable examples.
