PRODUCT PROFILE GoPro Case for Drone made with Cheetah™ Filament THE RED PORTION SHOWS THE CASE PRINTED FROM CHEETAH FILAMENT Protecting a GoPro Camera During Drone Crashes Chuck Durham’s drone, Flynoceros Orion, frequently takes flights as high as 150 feet and as fast as 70 miles per hour. To capture the view from the sky, there is a GoPro camera mounted on top of the drone. The problem was that frequent rough landings or crashes had broken several cameras. Using a FlashForge Dreamer printer, Chuck printed a case out of Cheetah filament. The design also allowed the case to mount to the drone. With 100% fill, the case had enough substance to withstand impact, but the flexibility in the material still allowed for impact absorption. Even when crashing, the GoPro camera was not damaged as it had been before using the new 3Dprinted mounts. (from video taken by camera) 60 mm/sec Print speed for flexible material that allowed for a quick part print, while still providing accurate results. Cheetah™ 3D Printing Filament from NinjaTek contains impact strength of 9.1 ft.lbf/in2, the highest of any widely available filament on the market. Previously, Chuck had printed the case from ABS material, but they offered little to no protection when he flow his drone. FAST FACTS 2 walls/100% fill Wall thickness and fill rate that provided both sturdiness and shock absorption.
