INTRODUCING… ISABEL PRIETO! KNOW NO BOUNDS Os presentamos a Isabel Prieto Meet Isabel, who is currently enrolled in the Master of Arts in Foreign Languages and Literatures program at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. SIU let her combine two of her goals: to be a Spanish teacher and to study in the US. The program at SIU combines being a student with hands-on experience in teaching. Because the American university system is flexible, Isabel was able to take classes in other departments. She chose to take a class in 3-D animation, which relates to her interest in technology. This course also connects to her research topic about the use of technology in teaching Spanish. Isabel’s best experience has been teaching. “When I graduate, I will not only have a masters, I will also have two years of university level teaching experience.” Academics are an important part of studying abroad, but so is the cultural experience. Carbondale is in a rural area. “I also like the location of the University, away from big cities, in the middle of the country, with a lot of outdoors activities. I enjoy immersing myself in the American culture, I love how easy is to find something to do, for example intramural sports, or being able to rent a canoe and go to the lake, or go hiking.” JOIN US. BE A SALUKI. SUCCEED.
