HOW A BILL BECOMES A LAW
Have you ever thought
how a bill becomes a Law.
The three branches are
legislative, executive, and
the judicial branches. The
legislative branch of our
state government is the
branch that makes the
laws. A bill is a written
idea for a law. Veto means
to reject . The state senate has 40 senators and
the general assembly has
80 members. How a bill
becomes a law is the citizens develop an idea for a
law. Members of the general assembly or the senate propose the bill. The
governor vetoes the bill. If
the bill is vetoed, anther
vote can be taken. If 27
senators and 54 general
assembly members vote to
approve it, how a bill becomes a law. It was fun to
learn about how a bill becomes a law.

Who am I
2
The ways I
would like to be described are smart
and helpful and athletic. I am smart to
build Legos. I am
helpful to my mom
when we cook and
play plants vs. zombies2. I play sports
like fall ball and
Hockey and soccer.
I am happiest
when its fall ball,
and to win. Getting
a homerun in fall
ball would be
amazing. If I win
my game I will be
happy. I like to eat
ribs.
These are the
thing I love: I play
soccer my team is
dark green. I scored
3 goals and hat a
trick. My favorite
movie is the Teenage Mutant Ninja
Turtles. My favorite ice cream is
cookie dough milkshake. I love Mister Softie. Some of
my favorite things
are to play games,
my favorite colors
are blue and green,
and I love hermit
crabs.
Earth, Sun, and Moon
Earth, Sun
and Moon are all
parts of the solar
system. The sun is
a star and is a hot
body of gas. The
sun produces heat
and light energy.
NICK
NEWS
The sun is in the
center of the solar
system. The Earth
rotates around the
sun and it takes the
Earth 24 hours to
rotate around the
sun which causes
day and night. It
takes 1 year or 365
1/4 days to revolve
or go around the
earth. The Earth is
tilted on its axis. It
is on a 23.5 degree
angle which
causes the seasons. The moon
is the Earth’s
closest neighbor.
The moon revolves around the
Earth. Earth’s
gravity keeps the
moon in its orbit.
It was fun to learn
about the Earth,
sun and moon.

Layers of the Earth
Scientists
study earthquakes
to learn more
about the layers of
the Earth. Earthquakes are movements or vibrations caused by
release of stored
energy in Earth’s
outer layer. Scientists use an instrument called a seismograph to measure seismic
waves. Seismic
waves are energy
that is released as
vibrations. The
four layers of the
Earth are crust,
mantle, outer core,
and inner core.
We live on
the Crust. It is
Earth’s outermost
layer. The crust is
the thinnest layer
and it is also solid
rock. As you
many know, the
crust is deeper under continents than
oceans. The layer
under the crust is
the mantle.
The mantle is
the thickest layer. It
is a layer of rock
lying below the
crust and moves or
flows due to pressure and high temperatures. The
mantle allows the
tectonic plates to
slowly move. Under the mantle lies
the core.
The last layers of Earth are the
outer core and the
inner core. The
outer core is totally
liquid and made of
melted iron. The
inner core floats in
this layer. The inner
core spins at a dif-
ferent rate than
the rest of the
planet and is
the center of
the Earth. It
also is a solid
sphere. It was
fun learning
about the four
layers of the
Earth.

Early Explorers
Early Explorers
In 1400s there was an
unknown land to Europe. A
lot of people believed the
Earth was flat. Some Europeans began to explore water
routes to the Indies because
they wanted to get more
money by trading. Instead of
finding the Indies they found
a new world to Europe. The
explores are Christopher Columbus, John Cabot, Giovanni da Verrazano and
Henry Hudson.
Christopher Columbus sailed for Spain and he
landed in Caribbean Sea.
Columbus sailed in 1492.
Also he wanted to find a
new water route from
Europe to the Indies. The
land he landed on become
known as the west Indies.
John
Cabot sailed for England
and landed in New Jersey.
Cabot sailed in 1497 and
was searching for a water
route to Asia. An intresting
fact is that he was Italian
but worked for England.
He was sent by the king of
England.
Giovanni da Verrazano sailed for France
and landed in Sandy Hook,
New Jersey. He sailed in
1524 and was searching for
a New World. An Interesting fact is Verrazano was
the first to see New Jersey.
Henry Hudson
sailed for Netherlands
(Dutch). He landed in
Sandy Hook and he sailed
in 1609. Hudson was
searching for a water route
to North America. An interesting fact is his ship was
called the half moon and he
found the Lenape men and
women. It was fun to learn
about the explorers.
