Thank you to the following individuals who have contributed to the
C. P. Gillette Museum of Arthropod Diversity.
Dr. Valeriu Albu, M.D., (Friant, CA) collaborates on research
dealing with argyresthiid moths and is author of a Gillette series
publication.
Ms. Barbara Bartell (Blackhawk, CO) conducts ecological and
natural history studies of selected moths and butterflies. Assists
museum in specimen preparation and publishes in museum
series.
Mr. David Bettman (Denver, CO) curatorial Assistant in
Entomology with the Department of Zoology in the Denver
Museum of Nature & Science. He has contributed greatly to the
museum with his expertise in Lepidoptera and in donating
valuable material.
Mr. Donald Bowman (Littleton, CO) donated several thousand
rare Lepidoptera to museum, provides specimens for
photography.
Dr. Boyce C. Drummond (Fort Collins, CO) is an expert on
western and tropical butterflies. His degree is from the
University of Florida and he is working to put the butterfly part
of the museum into better curatorial order.
Ms. Janet R. Chu (Boulder, CO) conducts butterfly inventories
and contributes assistance to the museum. She has written a
book on Front Range butterflies and is one of our star donors.
Mr. Ken Davenport (Bakersfield, CA) collaborates on DNA
research, publishes in Gillette series, and contributes significant
material to butterfly collection.
Mr. Richard S. Durfee (Hamilton, MT) is an expert in the
taxonomy of North American Ephemeroptera, Dytiscidae,
Haliplidae, and Chironomidae. Contributes and identifies
extensive material in selected aquatic groups.
Dr. Scott L. Ellis (La Porte, CO) is an expert on western plants
and selected insect groups. He has donated large collection of
butterflies and moths to museum.
Dr. Clifford D. Ferris (Laramie, WY) author of Butterflies of the
Rocky Mountain States, identifies many moths for museum.
Mr. Michael S. Fisher, a CSU graduate, has published
“Butterflies of Colorado” in the Gillette Series, is the author of
several scientific papers, and has donated several hundred
butterflies to the collection.
Mr. Don Givens (Wellington, CO) helps with identification and
curation of the caddisfly collection.
Mr. Chris Grinter (Urbana, IL) is an expert of Microlepidoptera,
especially Pyraloidea.
Mr. Charles E. Harp (Littleton, CO) collaborates on research on
genus Schinia [Lepidoptera: Noctuidae], donates specimens of
Lepidoptera to the collection.
Dr. John A. Hyatt (Kingsport, TN) collaborates with DNA
research and donates specimens for our butterfly collection. He
has prepared thousands of butterfly specimens for Gillette
Museum.
Mr. Sam Johnson (Colorado Springs, CO) has contributed to our
scientific collection and sampling of Colorado Lepidoptera.
Ms. Jan Kilgore (Estes Park, CO) curates the mayfly collection,
one of the largest in the U.S. She completed her graduate
studies on the taxonomy of southwestern mayflies from
California State University at Los Angeles. She has been
identifying and incorporating mayflies from North America into
the Gillette Museum collection for the last seven years.
Additionally she has been working on the Rocky Mountain
National Park butterfly survey project for six years, identifying,
recording, and creating spreadsheets and charts summarizing
the results.
Mr. Michael G. Kippenhan (McMinnville, OR) is an
international expert on Cicindelinae (Coleoptera) and assists in
the identification of other beetle families.
Dr. George O. Krizek, M.D. (Washington, D.C.) is a Co-author of
“Butterflies East of the Great Plains,” and internationally
renowned butterfly photographer.
Mr. Tim McNary, a former USDA scientist, is an expert in
Orthoptera, especially grasshoppers. He is currently studying
the taxonomy of several groups of Acrididae.
Dr. John S. Nordin (Laramie, WY) donated thousands of
specimens of Lepidoptera and Trichoptera.
Dr. John W. Peacock (Marion, OH) has donated many valuable
specimens and collaborates with research of the genus
Catocala.
Mr. Dave Ruiter (Grants Pass, OR) is an international
Trichoptera expert, who has identified most of our large
caddisfly collection and databased our collection.
Dr. James A. Scott (Lakewood, CO), the author of “Butterflies of
North America” has donated many insect and moth specimens
to museum.
Dr. Ray E. Stanford, M.D., (Medford, OR) author of “Butterflies
of the Rocky Mountain states,” has donated from his personal
collection more than 100,000 butterflies.
Dr. J. Bolling Sullivan (Beaufort, NC) contributes extensive
material from the southeastern states and identifies selected
taxa.
Dr. Andrew D. Warren (Gainesville, FL) studies higher
classification of world’s Hesperioidea and is an expert on
Colorado and tropical Lepidoptera. He has donated valuable
material to collection and publishes in the museum series.
Mr. David L. Wikle (San Marino, CA) studies distribution and
classification of Stiriine Noctuid moths. In addition, partly in
cooperation with Dr. Opler, he carries out faunistic studies of
Lepidoptera of the California deserts, Utah, southern Arizona
and northwestern Mexico, including Baja California. Dave has
contributed many valuable specimens to the Gillette Museum.
