Identification of gram negative and gram positive bacteria within 3

Automated Microorganism Identification Device
New Technology - Accurate - Fast - Cost Effective
OptiDet® technology is based on
absorption spectroscopy combined
with a proprietary device design,
optical removable or disposable cell,
and classification algorithms.
It enables the identification of small
quantities of microbes (1-3 CFU) from a
primary culture dish, within a couple of
minutes. OptiDet® devices comprised
of two parts: (a) the main unit which
performs the measurement and analysis
and is the size of a table top printer;
and (b) a disposable optical cell which
accommodates the sample and is the size
of a stethoscope chest piece.

Bacterial identification:
1. Samples are collected from patients and sent to the clinical laboratory.
2. The laboratory technician plates the sample on a primary,
non specific, petri dish for 18 - 24 hours.
3. Technician picks up one colony from dish and smears it on a disposable unit.
4. The unit is inserted to a stationary system.

Please turn on its power switch located at the rear panel.
Open the sterility pack and place the disposable on the working surface, with its mirror facing up.
Remove the sterile swab from its tube and collect a primary colony from the primary agar dish.
Smear the swab content evenly on the disposable unit using confluent strokes.
Open the removable handle and place the disposable into the removable compartment.
Place the handle back into the device and touch the “identify “icon that appears on the screen.
Wait for the microbial ID to appear on the screen. Time to result is 1-3 minutes.
