Elements, Compounds, and Mixtures Poster Project
Purpose: This is to bridge what we learned about the concepts of elements, compounds, and mixtures, to existing
examples of these that are in our lives.
Poster Board Size: The poste board size will be a minimum size of 18” x 12” poster board and a maximum size of
36” x 24” poster board. (Note these measurements are in “inches”.)
Poster Board Content:
- The poster will be created with 3 sections.
- One section for “Elements”
- One section for “Compounds”
- One section for “Mixtures”
- In each section you must have the vocabulary word and the definition. (For example, element, and then its
definition.)
- You must have a minimum of 8 picture examples per section and a maximum of 15 picture examples.
- The pictures must be in color.
- The pictures can be drawn (but it must be recognizable for what it is supposed to represent), or it can be a cut out
from a magazine or picture from the internet.
- The picture must identify what the substance is and what category it is. (Example: a color cut out picture of a glass
of water. Below the cut out picture is where the student wrote “WATER: COMPOUND”.)
