Switching from self-heating paraffin systems to tried and
true paraffin warmers is smart and economical! Saves time
and produces less landfill waste. And you can offer clients
the option of 10 different paraffin scents.
Paraffin “scoop” method
The “scoop” method allows the therapist to simply use a spoon/scoop to pour warm paraffin into a plastic liner, then place the liner
and a mitt or bootie on the client’s hands or feet. They will love the sensation!
1. Take a mitt liner and roll the sides down 1/2 the length of the liner
itself; this will allow you to pour the melted paraffin in easily.
5. Repeat steps 2-4 for the other hand and allow the hand treatment
to set for 10-15 minutes.
2. Using a spoon, measuring cup, or ladle, pour about 1/4 cup of
melted paraffin into the liner.
6. Remove the liner by taking the client’s hand between both of yours
and massaging or wiggling off the paraffin. The treatment should be
easy to remove, coming off with all of the paraffin remaining in the liner.
Your client’s hands will be nicely warmed and moisturized.
3. Slip your client’s hand into the paraffin liner. With one hand hold the
liner snuggly around your client’s arm or wrist and with your other hand
massage the paraffin over your client’s hand.
Cost per treatment: only $0.98!
6 lbs. of paraffin yields
24 hand or foot treatments.
4. Twist the top of liner until it fits snuggly and roll the remaining edge,
tucking it into the liner. After the paraffin liner is secure you may cover it
with warm electric or herbal mitts or hot towels.

Paraffin “Strip” method
Paraffin strips allow the therapist to provide paraffin treatments for the feet, legs, hands, arms, and body without worrying about
cross-contamination. The paraffin strips easily conform to the shape of the body.
Note: You will need a disposable wooden applicator or plastic spatula
for this treatment.
1. Cleanse the treatment area thoroughly.
7. Place the side of the strip that is coated with paraffin against the
treatment area and wrap it around the body part that is being treated
(hands, feet, arms, legs, etc.).
2. Exfoliate the skin using massage gloves or a body brush to allow the
products to penetrate more easily.
3. Apply a treatment lotion, oil, cream, or serum if desired.
Optional: Put on gloves. This will help reduce clean up time when you are finished
with the treatment.
4. Using one hand, dip a paraffin strip
into the paraffin spa while holding on
to the top edge.
8. Repeat with as many strips as necessary for full coverage
of the treatment area.
5. Pull the paraffin strip up out of the
spa and hold it suspended above the
paraffin spa.
• Hands — 2 strips per hand (3 for men) covers up to the wrist
• Feet — 3 strips per hand (4 or 5 for men) covers up to the ankles
9. Cover the treatment area with a plastic liner, warm towel, or blanket
to hold in the warmth.
6. Pick up the applicator with your
other hand and place it under the top
edge of the paraffin strip. Slowly run
the wood applicator down the paraffin strip. Excess wax will flow back
into the paraffin spa.
10. Allow the strip to set for 5 to 10 minutes.
11. Remove strip(s) and discard. Normally when removing the strips,
you can easily pull the liner and strips off in one piece, leaving no
paraffin residue for a quick and easy cleanup.
Note: Approximately 2 teaspoons of paraffin is used per strip. Six pounds
of paraffin will yield 70+ hand treatments.
