Movie Matinee: My Favorite Year
Game Night
It's 1950's New York and the
age of live television. Benjy
Stone is a young writer on a
major comedy-variety show.
He is assigned to chaperon
that week's guest Alan
Swann, a faded movie-star
and renowned womanizer

try and keep Swann sober
and above all else, make
sure he shows up for the live broadcast on Saturday
evening. Benjy and Swann have a number of
adventures throughout the week, including dinner with
Benjy's somewhat eccentric family. In the end, both
learn lessons in life from the other.

Bob and Linda Smith are originally from Baltimore
County. They moved to Pennsylvania over 20 years
ago to be near friends in the Jefferson area. Linda
was a lab for a technician for a while and then
worked in antique store. She also spent much of her
time as a mother. Originally Bob worked building
homes, but has since retired and has been spending
his time making dulcimers. For those of you who do
not know what a dulcimer is, it is a string instrument
from the Appalachian tradition. Linda enjoys quilting
and knitting in her free time. She makes pillow cases
for with kids with cancer along with other charities.
They have a Beagle and Jack Russel mix named
Honey Bunny. Honey Bunny loves to sit in the

James Buchanan’s Wheatland. As you tour the home you
will realize why President Buchanan described it as his,
“agreeable country residence about a mile & an half from
Lancaster” City. Tour guides share Buchanan’s family
stories that reveal a stern, yet lovable bachelor uncle who
raised orphaned nieces and nephews, cared for Lancaster’s
widows and orphans and was a successful attorney. During
your tour you will also learn about Buchanan’s remarkable
political career. Before his Presidency he served two years
in the Pennsylvania Legislature, 22 years in the U.S. House
and Senate, four years as Secretary of State and six years
in Russia and Great Britain as a U.S. Foreign Diplomat. In
1856 Wheatland served as his presidential campaign
headquarters. From 1857 to 1861Buchanan struggled to
calm the nation divided over slavery, states’ rights and
