Mayflower Court, Norwich

Mayflower Court
Welcome to
Mayflower Court
Mayflower Court is a purpose built care home within the
Bowthorpe Care Village located in the west of Norwich,
providing some of the best facilities in the UK.
The home provides excellent, specialist residential care for
up to 80 people living with dementia.
Residents have their own furnished, large, bright bedroom
and are very welcome to personalised their room by
bringing small items of furniture, pictures and ornaments
with them when they move in. All our rooms have been
specially designed with state of the art assistive technology
and come with large en-suite facilities.
Other facilities in the home include welcoming communal
areas with large screen TVs and sofas, quiet rooms, dining
rooms and care offices in convenient locations around the
home. There is also a safe, landscaped garden, where
residents can enjoy plants and trees that stimulate all
senses. In the main hub area of the Care Village, there is a
large restaurant, café, hairdressing salon and shop. Wi-fi is
also available within the home and throughout the village.
Our aim is to provide a warm and friendly environment in
which to live and we will be on hand to help and advise on
individual needs.
The Manager, or a member of the team, will always be
available to answer your questions and address any
concerns you may have.

Living
With Us
Care plans
When residents move into Mayflower Court, a
senior member of staff will create a personal care
plan. The care plan is our chance to get to know
everything about our residents and their needs.
It allows us to discover more about the person,
what their interests are and what method of care
works best. Where appropriate, family members
and friends are also encouraged to take part
in agreeing the care plan. It will also include an
assessment of any risks and how these need
to be managed, details of health care needs,
medication, doctor and any other community
therapy services provided.
We also have an on-site Medical Clinic, where
a Nurse Practioner and a Health Care Assistant
will be available Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.
Residents can visit them in the clinic or they can
visit them in their room. A GP will visit the clinic
twice weekly and will be able to see them in
the clinic or in their room. Residents can choose
to keep their current GP if their area includes
Bowthorpe, or register with our on-site GP.
Food
Staff
Meals are freshly prepared on
site by our catering staff. We
have spacious dining rooms
where residents can enjoy
their meals. A varied seasonal
menu is offered each day and
residents are consulted about
their preferences regularly.
We understand that high quality
staff become trusted and caring
friends for our residents. Our
staff are one of the greatest
assets we have, and we are very
proud of the consistently high
levels of care and commitment
they provide. They provide real
‘person centred care’ on a daily
basis, ensuring all residents are
treated exactly how they would
like to be treated.
Morning and afternoon
refreshments are served
between meals and drinks
and are always available
on request. A selection of
sandwiches, cakes, yoghurts
and other snacks are also
available 24 hours a day. If
residents have specific dietary
requirements, we will be able to
accommodate them.
We are committed to
maintaining a high quality, welltrained staff team. Our rigorous
recruitment and selection
procedures together with our
comprehensive induction and
staff training packages ensure
that our personnel are best able
to help deliver the best quality
of life at Mayflower Court.
Friends and family
Charges
Friends and families are welcome to
visit our home at any time, and it is
something we actively encourage. We
love to see friends and families popping
in for a cup of tea or chat whenever they
like, and becoming part of day-to-day
life in our home.
The amount you will pay for the
care of your loved ones will depend
on an assessment of your financial
circumstances. The charges made
for care covers all personal care
and accommodation costs, food,
drinks, heating, lighting, and laundry
(except dry cleaning). Insurance is
required for personal belongings.
Residents and families are also regularly
consulted on issues surrounding the
home. Regular meetings are held at
which residents and their families are
encouraged to discuss issues that they
are concerned about, and to put forward
ideas to enhance their lives such as
food, outings and entertainment.
We also hope that friends and
families will make use of the many
social and communal facilities in the
Village; including the café, restaurant,
hairdressers and shop.
