The intern will work with a senior engineer to determine the performance characteristics of rechargeable batteries by testing them in a controlled environment, and to determine whether or not these characteristics are acceptable for the intended use. Responsibilities: Develop test plans Program and operate battery test equipment Organize large amounts of test data Derive battery parameters from raw data Model the effects of battery state of charge, load power, temperature, and age on battery performance Model capacity loss and impedance rise due to aging and cycling Present test results in clear graphical formats that any electrical engineer can understand. Responsibilities: Work with a small mechanical group designing a family of medical products Support the mechanical group and accomplish tasks with minimal direction. For example, a task could be to design a part/assembly using Solidworks, that will be integrated into one of the products or a fixture to test a particular part. We are looking for the right highly creative Model maker to intern with us for the summer of 2017. This person should have a passion and interest in visualizing substantive design solutions to widespread health and infrastructure problems. DEKA’s Design team functions as an in-house consultancy supporting development projects as well as DEKA’s business needs. We collaborate with project teams to research user needs and provide design solutions (Industrial Design, User Interface, Prototyping and Human Factors) that blend the technology solution with the human need. The scope of our work starts with the definition of the intended user experience and continues through to ensuring the design intent of the final implementation of the product. Prototyping is a key area within the design team to support that effort and we are looking to grow our capabilities.
