Danger A Silver Wolf Has Appeared Around The Camp Chief’s Neck
John Kennedy, Camp Chief was
interviewed recently on his prestigious Silver Wolf award, presented to him by the Chief Commissioner of Scotland, Eleanor
Lyall on Sunday. As the Scouts’
own was drawing to a close yesterday, Camp Chief John Kennedy was honoured with the entire Blair Atholl camp in attendance.
The Silver Wolf is the highest
award to be won in adult scouting
and is presented in recognition to
years of service to the scouting
community. Sunday’s presentation was a break from tradition as
most awards of this kind are
given on St George’s day, the
patron saint of Scouting. Only 9 people in Scotland are given such an honour every year.
John Kennedy has been in scouting since he was a cub and has attended a grand total of 18 jamborettes, 7
of which he has been camp chief. After receiving this award he said he was completely “taken aback”
and “never expected such an honour”. During his years of scouting
John Kennedy has given a great
deal to the movement, but has got
an equal amount back.. In his own
words Mr. Kennedy believes that
scouting has not only built up his
confidence over the years, but has
also opened up many opportunities
abroad for him.
Undoubtedly all the scouts in this
camp owe their thanks to Mr. John
Kennedy, our Camp Chief for his
dedication to this camp.

Pirates Ahoy!
Last night was the pirate
dance, the music was great and
many people enjoyed it but some
had something else to say.
Florian Eder- from MacDonald “The
music was a good part”
Johanna Roessner- Murray “The YMCA dance
was really neat, and dancing with people from
Africa and China and all the different countries
was really fun! The costumes were great!”
Jason Differ- MacDonald “It
was good! I wish I’d gone on the
pirate ship! and tried the Pirate
juice!”
Hamish Gray- Maclean “It was
awesome, the people in costumes looked great. The pirate
ship was lots of fun to go on,
and fun to watch people dance
before they were allowed on”
James Anfield- Stewart “The dance was alright, the games were good, and I think people
enjoyed it. But next time… make me the dj J (DJ James- dj’d the Cally Rally “get me back”)
Fraser Sutherland- Morrison “Not very good, I thought the day-glo disco was much more fun”
Amy Dobbin- MacDonald “I didn’t like it, I liked the first dance more”
So there were different opinions but all in all, most people thought it was a good danceJ. The
pirate theme was something that everyone would find fun, and a very easy thing to dress up
as.

The Atholl Experience Special
If you do the Atholl Experience you will get muddy! You crawl through mud.
You run over obstacles, and under rabbit holes. People that come out are covered from head to toe in
mud. Wear something you never want to wear again!
Follow the adventure of one team of willing Atholl Experience participants as they go through some of
the trials in the woods.
Monday 26th July 2010
The Atholl experience is all about the mud, there is unlimited ways to wear the mud from mud
hats to blowing mud bubbles. You will expect to stay clean but it is unacceptable to have any colour but
brown thick mud showing. Some scouts think of it as a mud bath or spa they think it is very exploiting,
but some scouts are fritting of getting down in the mud.
Allie Sleightholme Ordell –“ The Atholl experience was great! I loved it you can never have enough
mud! Ninjas rule!!!”
Tiffany Greig - “It was so fun! Even though I hate mud it was great !! I was part of the ninja group.”
Blyth – “It was very muddy and I didn’t know what I was getting my self in to I wouldn’t do it again.”
Padro – “I am really excited to get muddy and I cant wait to get on the trail”
So we can tell you as much as possible about the Atholl experience but the only way to really find
out is to get out there and find out !
By Silas Ashton and Amy Dobbin
All the parents who are missing their little rays of sunshine can expect some truly disgusting clothes to
wash when they return at the weekend and if your child has survived The Atholl Experience early on in
camp then there may be an interesting smell to accompany the dirty clothes.
