Abstract— In this paper we are going to present the
detailed information about ‘Fabrication Of Innovative Desert
Cooler’. By modifying in a conventional desert cooler we have
designed this cooler in the India. This cooler is a multitasking
or multiuse cooler, it gives cooling air effect, chilled water for
drinking and as well as gives cool area for storing perishable
products.
II. METHODOLOGY
Methodology used for design of Innovative Desert
Cooler is shown below with the help of flowchart the
sequence of flow chart gives detail information of process
of cooling system In which we have to achieve the
multitasking cooler in that we are going to achieve a
cooling effect, food storage area , and water cooling in a
same equipment hence firstly select the correct size of
innovative desert cooler. Then select standard part then
Design of Equipment after that taking experiment and
finally evaluate the Process.

I. INTRODUCTION
The air humidity is low in North Western part of India at
the time of summer. At that time the average temperature is
near equal to 40°C to 45°C. Sometime in the month of June
it goes up to the 48°C to 50°C. To take down the
temperature at living area in the summer, the various types
of instruments are used like as „air-conditioner‟ and
„desert coolers‟. Evaporative cooling is mostly suitable in
this climate. Therefore the evaporative cooler can create
comfort environment in desert summer. The outside hot air
is sucked by moist pads where it cooled by evaporation of
water and then cooled air circulated in a room or building
or surrounding by a small fan or blower. Natural way to
keep water cool is evaporative cooling in earthen pots at
the time of summer season since from long back.
We are going to design a “Fabrication Of Innovative
Desert Cooler”.It is modification of the conventional
cooler. It is act as Conditioner as well as refrigerator for
those people who cannot be afford costly instrument like a
air conditioner, refrigerator and other such appliances. For
provide better cooling effect than the conventional the
modified desert cooler is designed. This is also gives cold
pure water for drinking and storage for perishable like food
stuff as compared refrigerator at low cost. This changes is
carried out with the help of accessories like as radiator,
copper tubes, water tanks, storage box and PVC pipes

Objective
By this modified cooler, those are the following
objectives will be achieved.
1. Cooling air effect.
2. Chilled water for drinking.
3. Storage area for food stuff.
Dipak Welkar et.al.2011[1] Described that about
detailed meaning types, function of each parts about
multiutility hybrid cooler in detailed manner. These is a
multipurpose cooler which has given cooling air effect,
chilled water for drinking as well as provides cooled area
for storing perishable foods.

So at there they have conclude that multiutility hybrid
cooler is a multifunctional cooler that gives different output
at the same time. And also his consumption of electric
energy is less as compared to other conventional type
cooler.
Chandrakant B. Kothare et.al.2017[2] Says that The cost
of a conventional air conditioner is nearly Rs. 28000/- and
the cost of a refrigerator is about Rs.6000/- which some
what expensive than . multiutility hybrid cooler provides us
with both the facilities at an minimum cost of Rs.of 4640/only. Thus these cools the air more than the conventional
cooler, it also provide chilled water for purpose of drinking
at low cost than Refrigerator. The modified cooler is
constructed for providing better cooling effect than
conventional cooler. There isalso another use like cooling
and purifying the drinking water. It helps to control
humidity to the at specified level human comfort. And
hence its multifunctional ability makes it is a better option.
Poonia M.P. et.al.2011[3] The author Described that the
evaporative cooler produce effective cooling by water
evaporation with air moving system this is the most
economical and effective way of refrigeration and air
conditioning in that area where temperature is high like
Rajasthan. In a Rajasthan at the time of summer season
the DBT of air goes upto the 47 c and relative humidity at
below 50%. By studying where to make evaporative
cooling more versatile. By using this process refrigerator
has been developed which is used for multipurpose like
cooling of air, cooling of Drinking water etc.
Near about same bypass factor observed for half value of
water consumption by existing desert cooler. There is better
relative humidity of present cooler than existing.
New Evaporative Cooling Systems
New Solution for Homes in Hot Climates
As there is large difference is present between old type
conventional cooler and new style of modern evaporative
cooler system. As compared to later system now at this
time cooler is an affordable to everyone due to its new
modified simplification and new ideas. And hence it
provides cold, clean air, at comfortable atmosphere with
fresh air at very cheaper cost compared to conventional air
conditioner. And as in addition new modern type of
evaporative cooler design is so easier than compressor
operated air conditioning system. In the place of four to
five kilowatts or more electrical energy there is only one
kilowatt is required to evaporator cooler at its peak
demand. And in evaporative type system there is
thermostatic control and automatic flushing operation for
removing impurities is also included. As energy
consumption in case of these cooler has been reduced due
to this adding possibilities of new costly power plant is also
gets reduced. That the reason many company of hot utility
areas has installed efficient evaporative coolers for
substantial of population growth.
The Evaporative Cooling system
When room surrounding hot air passes through like
cotton pad, aspen fiber , fiberglass and when water come
in contact with pads it gets evaporated. Hence water gives
its latent to air and hot air transformed into cold form due
to temperature difference between dry bulb and wet bulb
temperature.
Comparative Analysis of Efficiency of Evaporative Air
Cooler with Two Different Cooling Pad Material
As we already known that air cooler has become a very
essential component which belongs to all classes of our
society. As summer starts temperature rises to above 50 oc
and further more also. And these cooler has some
disadvantages like consumption of more electricity for the
purpose of pumping water upto cooling pad thus more
quantity of water is required. Also maximum part of water
get wasted in our present work in the material for pad like
khus used in conventional pad has replaced with cotton has
been used as evaporator. An one more fan has been used to
make effective evaporation. By making experimental
investigation it has been come to know that as compared to
conventional cooler there is saving of electricity is about 70
to 80% in an normal atmospheric condition. Four different
temprature are taken in this investigation.
Types of Evaporative Coolers
a)Direct
In a direct evaporative cooler fan is used to pull outside
air through pads. Pads are wet by water , water is dripped
on them. This both filters the air and cools it. The water is
delivered via tubes by using a small pump which takes
water from a reservoir below. The level of reservoir is
controlled by float valve. Then we get a fresh, cool,
humidified air is blown into buildings where the pattern of
flow is determined by the location and extent of openings
in the conditioned envelope such as windows or special
dedicated ducts.

IV. CONCLUSION
The innovative cooler which has cost upto 4000-5000/as compared to refrigerator has a too much higher cost near
about 10000. The innovative cooler provide all facilities in
affordable cost Rs 6000 only. The innovative desert cooler
cools more air compared to conventional air cooler. It also
provide chilled water for a drinking purpose at a low cost
as compare to other refrigerator. So here we conclude that
the “MUHC” is a multi functional device serving three
functions at time which makes it economical to use and can
be afforded by poor people in our country. As it gives the
three functions at a time it consume less power as
compared to three different devices. Also it run at low cost.
It is Eco-friendly and there is no green house gas
production during the working. It easy to install and less
maintenance is required
Direct evaporative cooling
b)Indirect
Indirect evaporative cooling is advantageous as
compared with direct cooling because of its nature of
cooling. It decreases inner room temperature without
increasing humidity. In this case primary fan provide
outside air flow through the dry passages of a heat
exchanger into the room, while a second fan deliver hot air
from the room space, fresh air, or some extra arrangement
through wetted pads in thermal contact with the dry
passages of the heat exchanger. As the main difference
between direct/indirect is adds a second stage of
evaporative cooling before the conditioned air enters the
dwelling to further decrease the temperature of the
incoming hot air. The indirect/direct units is capable of
delivered air that is colder than the outside wet bulb
temperature.
