Teen Manga With Brianna Gosselin Wednesday Evenings 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm Ages: 10-17 Ever wanted to create your own manga and learn how to draw anime?
This course is designed especially for you. Students will learn proper proportions when it comes to
designing characters, gain an understanding of facial expressions and body language.
Proper storyline and character development will be explored along with the culture that influences
manga. At the end of the term, students will bring home a booklet of artwork created by the group.
Class 1 Introduction to the world of anime/manga
We will discuss the various genres of manga and which ones are our favourite. Our first exercise will
be exploring eyes, mouths, ears and noses.
Photos of artwork will be document and work will begin for our class art booklet.
Class 2 Portraits
We will take our new found knowledge of facial shapes and structure and begin work on our self
portraits. We will learn how to properly ink a manga drawing along with adding colour.
If portraits are not completed in class, students are asked to complete their work at home and bring
in the following week to be documented for our class art booklet.

Class 3 Hands, Feet, Arms and Legs.
Students will do anatomy drawings of large models of hands using our guidelines of proportions,
with feet following.

Class 4 Personal Characters!
Students now have the experience of drawing all of the manga/anime body parts, now we will be
putting everything together and creating our very own character! We will begin to discuss what
makes our character unique, design a personality profile for them and get a sketch drawn out.

Class 5 Continuation of Character Profiles
Students will finish their work on their character profiles. Drawing, inking and coloring techniques
will come into play.

Class 6 Kawaii Art and Class Party
To celebrate a wonderful term together we will be creating kawaii characters on canvas while
indulging in some asian snacks! Please feel free to bring in whatever treats you may like to share, just
remember no nut products please.
Each student will have an art booklet to take home with them - a collection of everyone’s art from the
Spring term.
