Old Durrington
Walnut Tree Cottage Old Durrington, Nr. Salisbury, Wiltshire SP4 8AN
Salisbury 10 miles, Amesbury 2 miles, London (approx. 75 mins by rail), Basingstoke (40 mins by rail)
The Property
This charming four bedroom detached character
property was completed in 2011 to our clients’ own
specification and exacting standards. This cleverly
designed property has been built and designed to
encapsulate the very best of period living set in a
modern house with many modern features. The
accommodation throughout flows with an abundance
of light and the principle rooms are positioned to take
in a slightly elevated outlook over a well arranged
garden plot which extends down to the banks of the
River Avon, and with further far reaching views
across the meadows beyond. At the heart of the house
there is a granite-topped country style kitchen with
central island with oak top which is complemented by
oak fitted ledge and brace doors internally. Within
this area there is ample space for dining and a double
width archway extends into a family room (or
separate dining facility). The principle reception
room enjoys a triple aspect and a focal point being an
exposed red brick fireplace with timber bressemer and
inset double opening log burning stove. Set in the
recess are bookshelves and cupboards, again finished
in a country panelled style. The first floor has four
generous bedrooms, the master bedroom benefits
from ensuite facilities and all have an outlook over the
rear garden, river and meadows. Internally the
accommodation is heated via underfloor heating to
both ground and first floor via an air source heat
pump with each room being zoned throughout the
property.
Outside, the gardens are idyllic and
arranged with formal areas of lawn which provide
ample space for family living, summer parties,
marquees etc. One section of the garden has been
extensively planted with rare flowers set among the
meadow grass and numerous mature trees which
make this a real retreat for families.
The Location
The property is situated on the edge of the old part of
Durrington along the banks of the River Avon which
is within close proximity to a number of shopping
facilities as well as schools, mini supermarkets,
general stores, library, doctors and veterinary
surgeries and leisure centre and swimming complex.
Public transport is also available within the village.
One of the notable features of the location is its
accessibility with good links to the A303 providing
access to Basingstoke and London via the M3 or
westerly towards Exeter and the West Country.
Commuters will often use the mainline rail link at
Grateley to London Waterloo in around 75 minutes.
The main shopping and recreational location is
Salisbury which is around 25 minutes’ drive south.
Renowned for its prominent cathedral which
dominates the skyline, the city itself has an eclectic
mix of retail facilities set among historical buildings,
a beautiful market square and the revered Cathedral
Close. The city also enjoys a safe and cultured night
life with numerous restaurants, a wonderful theatre
and a popular race course found on the edge of the
city. Salisbury also benefits from a full complement
of leisure facilities ideal for family living.

From the Countess roundabout situated on the A303
