UP, UP AND AWAY TO NEVERLAND

GARRAD’S ROAD WEEK 12 · FRIDAY 29 JUNE 2012
UP, UP AND AWAY TO NEVERLAND
The Prep children stole the show with their ‘Adventures in Neverland’
d’ this
thi week.
k With a quarter
t off the
th castt nott yett five,
the children were fantastic at remembering their lines, even taking on extra lines for absent friends. There was some truly
heartfelt acting and some razor-sharp comic timing, not to mention a thrilling sword fight. The audience is bound to be
humming “walk, walk, walk the plank” for weeks to come.

BOSSY NOTES FROM THE HEAD
Parking: We have had a recent complaint about
irresponsible parking at the junction of Fisher’s Close/
Garrad’s Road. Please leave sufficient clearance so
residents can clearly see traffic on the main road and can
join it safely.
CUPS RETURNED
A special mention to Mrs Laing who gets Mrs Dawnay’s
special prize for returning the shiniest, silveriest, cleanest
cup ever returned from home to any of the Schools that
she has ever seen in the past 20 years!

GRANDPARENTS TEA
After a busy week of baking, the Preps hosted a wonderful
tea party for their grandparents
on Friday 22 June. On arrival,
the grandparents were shown to
the classroom where they were
able to look at all the fantastic
work the children have done
this year. After a tour of the
garden we all enjoyed delicious
cupcakes and biscuits which the
children had made themselves.
The afternoon ended with a
sneak preview from ‘Adventures
in Neverland’ when children
sang a selection of songs
from their play. A fun time was
had by all on this very special
afternoon.

WALK LIKE AN EGYPTIAN
On Thursday 28 June Class 2 had a fantastic morning at
their workshop
on Egyptian
life. They acted
out life as
Egyptian slaves
and discovered
that chatty
slaves had
their tongues
chopped off!
The children
learnt that
Egyptians ate barley bread and drank barley beer through
an extremely long straw!
