ADVANCEMENT FUND REPORT
for fiscal year ending June 30, 2016
Two hundred and nine (209) families and friends of Sacred Heart contributed to our school’s 2016 Advancement Fund,
raising $47,887.19. In addition, $13,523.35 was raised through the participation of school families in various fundraisers,
bringing the total raised by the fund to $61,210.54. Each year, the Advancement Fund helps to control tuition increases
while providing funding for many of the school’s most pressing needs. Those needs include technology, academic and
extracurricular enhancements, athletics, faculty and staff salaries and benefits and student financial aid. We wish to thank the
following donors for their prayers and support.
Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Society ($1,000+)
Mother Seton founded the American Sisters of Charity and the first Catholic school in America in Maryland in 1809. Elizabeth Bayley
Seton was the first American-born citizen to become a canonized saint in 1975.
Fr. John Hooper Society ($500 to $999)
Fr. Hooper succeeded Fr. Caulfield as Pastor of Sacred Heart Parish and School in 1971 where he remained until 1979. He is warmly
remembered by many current Sacred Heart families who personally experienced his humor, kindness and deep faith.
Bishop John Neumann Society ($250 to $499)
In 1842, St. John Neumann took his vows as a Redemptorist Priest in Baltimore. In 1852, he was consecrated in Baltimore as Bishop of
Philadelphia. He was the first bishop in the United States to organize a Catholic diocesan school system, increasing the number of Catholic
schools in his diocese from one to one hundred. He was canonized in 1977.
Fr. Thomas Caulfield Society ($100 to $249)
Fr. Caulfield as Pastor at Sacred Heart Parish from 1953 to 1971. He was responsible for the founding and opening of Sacred Heart Parish
School in 1956.
Mrs. Jane Burdette (Gifts up to $99)
Jane Burdette was a beloved kindergarten teacher at Sacred Heart School from 1992 until her death in 2002. Jane’s nurturing and caring for
her young charges was instrumental in creating a positive overall school experience, setting the stage for their future success.
