Balancing Religious Liberty and LGBTQ Rights in the Russian Cultural Context
This thesis offers a contemporary examination of the historical-cultural and political forces underlying
current restrictions on Russian civil society. My original contribution to the literature is found in this
thesis’ interdisciplinary consideration of issues surrounding the intersection of liberty of religious
expression with liberty of LGBTQ expression in Vladimir Putin’s Russia.
