POISON KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN READ SAFETY DIRECTIONS BEFORE OPENING OR USING Gymnast ACTIVE CONSTITUENT: 18 g/L ABAMECTIN SOLVENT: 265 g/L N-METHYL-2-PYRROLIDONE GROUP 6 INSECTICIDE For the control of Couchgrass Mite in turf Syngenta Australia Pty Ltd Level 1, 2-4 Lyonpark Road, Macquarie Park NSW 2113 In a transport emergency dial 000, Police or Fire Brigade For specialist advice in an emergency only, call 1800 033 111 (24 hours) APVMA Approval No: 68979/62263 Item number ® DIRECTIONS FOR USE Restraints DO NOT apply to turf under heat or moisture stress DO NOT apply if rainfall imminent DO NOT apply by backpack DO NOT apply by hand gun sprayer DO NOT apply with aircraft DO NOT apply through any type of irrigation system or ultra low volume spray system DO NOT apply with a nozzle height greater than 50 cm above the ground Situation Turf Pest Couchgrass Mite (Aceria cynodoniensis, formerly Eriophyes cynodoniensis) Rate Critical Comments 2 L/ha or 2 20 mL/100 m Apply GYMNAST in an early curative situation (after first symptoms are apparent). Best results are achieved if applied as populations begin to build rather than at the peak of population growth. Apply in a total application volume of 300 to 500 L/ha. Good spray coverage is essential. The addition of a quality non-ionic surfactant at a rate of 0.25% v/v (1000 g ai/L products) or 0.42% v/v (600 ® g ai/L products) such as Agral Spray Adjuvant is essential. Apply 1 to 2 consecutive applications at 21 to 28 day intervals if population persists. Refer to Application section for detailed information. NOT TO BE USED FOR ANY PURPOSE, OR IN ANY MANNER, CONTRARY TO THIS LABEL UNLESS AUTHORISED UNDER APPROPRIATE LEGISLATION WITHHOLDING PERIOD: DO NOT GRAZE TREATED TURF/LAWN OR FEED TURF/LAWN CLIPPINGS FROM ANY TREATED AREA TO POULTRY OR LIVESTOCK GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS After application GYMNAST quickly moves into leaves where it remains for several weeks and where it is taken up by sucking mites. GYMNAST is not systemic making good coverage essential. Mixing Add the required amount of product directly to a partly filled spray tank and mix well. Non-ionic Surfactants: Use Agral (600 g ai/L) at 0.42% v/v or 420 mL/100 L spray mix. Alternatively use other quality non-ionic surfactants (1000 g ai/L formulations) at 0.25% v/v or 250 mL/100 L spray mix. Compatibility As formulations of other manufacturers products are beyond the control of Syngenta, all mixtures should be tested before addition to a spray tank and before application to turf to establish safety. Application Apply by ground boom sprayer or low pressure hand wand To be effective GYMNAST requires thorough spray coverage. Ensure that equipment is properly calibrated to give an even distribution at the correct volume. Application volume should be adequate to ensure thorough and even coverage of turf leaves with penetration into the crowns. Total application volume should be 300 to 500 L/ha. Use coarse droplets (eg Air Induction flat fan 025 to 04 nozzles). In higher cut turf (≥15 mm) a significant spray shielding effect can occur, impacting negatively on spray penetration and even coverage at low application volumes. Insecticide Resistance Warning GROUP INSECTICIDE 6 For insecticide resistance management GYMNAST Turf Miticide is a Group 6 insecticide. Some naturally occurring insect biotypes resistant to GYMNAST and other Group 6 insecticides may exist through normal genetic variability in any insect population. The resistant individuals can eventually dominate the insect population if GYMNAST and other Group 6 insecticides are used repeatedly. The effectiveness of GYMNAST on resistant individuals could be significantly reduced. Since occurrence of resistant individuals is difficult to detect prior to use, Syngenta Australia Pty Ltd accepts no liability for any losses that may result from failure of GYMNAST to control resistant insects. GYMNAST may be subject to specific resistance management strategies. For further information contact your supplier, Syngenta representative or local agricultural department agronomist. Integrated Pest Management The possible effects of GYMNAST on integrated pest management (IPM) strategies in the turf industry have not been studied at the proposed rates. However, based on available information, it cannot be ruled out that GYMNAST may have an adverse effect on non-target beneficial turfgrass invertebrates where such IPM is practiced. PRECAUTIONS Re-entry Period General Public: DO NOT allow public access to treated areas until the spray has dried. Grounds Staff / Professional Operators: DO NOT enter treated areas until the spray has dried, unless wearing cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist (or equivalent clothing) and chemical resistant gloves. Clothing must be laundered after each day’s use. PROTECTION OF LIVESTOCK DO NOT graze treated turf/lawn or feed turf/lawn clippings from any treated area to poultry or livestock. Highly toxic to bees. Will kill bees foraging in or near treated turf or in hives which are oversprayed or reached by spray drift. Residues may remain toxic to bees for several days after application. PROTECTION OF WILDLIFE, FISH, CRUSTACEANS AND ENVIRONMENT DO NOT apply under weather conditions or from spraying equipment that may cause spray to drift from the target area. Very toxic to aquatic life. DO NOT contaminate wetlands or watercourses with this product or used containers. STORAGE AND DISPOSAL Store in the closed original container in a cool, well ventilated area. DO NOT store for prolonged periods in direct sunlight. Triple or preferably pressure rinse containers before disposal. Add rinsings to the spray tank. DO NOT dispose of undiluted chemicals on site. If recycling, replace cap and return clean containers to recycler or designated collection point. If not recycling, break, crush or puncture and deliver empty packaging for appropriate disposal to an approved waste management facility. If an approved waste management facility is not available, bury the empty packaging 500 mm below the surface in a disposal pit specifically marked and set up for this purpose clear of waterways, desirable vegetation and tree roots, in compliance with Local, State or Territory government regulations. DO NOT burn empty containers or product. SAFETY DIRECTIONS Poisonous if swallowed. Avoid contact with skin. Will damage eyes. Will irritate the skin. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. DO NOT inhale spray mist. When opening the container, preparing spray and using prepared spray wear: • cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist (or equivalent clothing) • elbow-length chemical resistant gloves • goggles In addition, if applying by low pressure hand wand, wear: • a half face piece respirator with dust cartridge. If product in eyes, wash it out immediately with water. After use and before eating, drinking or smoking, wash hands, arms and face thoroughly with soap and water. After each day’s use, wash gloves, goggles, respirator (if rubber, wash with detergent and warm water) and contaminated clothing. FIRST AID If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. Phone 131 126. If swallowed DO NOT induce vomiting. Give a glass of water. If skin contact occurs, remove contaminated clothing and wash skin thoroughly. If in eyes, hold eyes open, flood with water for at least 15 minutes and see a doctor.
