He also extended congratulations to Harold Conquest, newly elected Mayor of Tofield, and Lorraine Warren Nimeck, newly elected mayor of Ryley. Adoption of Minutes It was moved and seconded that the October 6 minutes be adopted. Carried Small Business Gala Greg & Christina reported that 170 attended the event, and that it resulted in approximately a $900 profit. Additional comments were made that it was an excellent event and evening. Suggestions for next year were to not use the event for awards (as was the case this year) , starting the event a half hour later, and ensuring a better sound system for entertainment. Promenade Update Greg asked for volunteers to form a committee for the 2014 promenade. Christina McEachern, Tania Jeffrey and a member from Town of Tofield and Ryley have so far volunteered. We will ask for more volunteers and develop a timeline of meetings for next chamber meeting. Winter Festival Update This event will take place November 29 - Dec. 1. Email list of events has been sent to chamber members. Businesses were asked to participate in the parade and in store front decorations. . Downtown Beautification Update Jeff Edwards reported that weather has halted progress. Completion of the final touch ups will take place in spring of 2014. Christmas decorations are still to go up on main street. ! TDCC minutes November 6th, 2013 p. 1 ! Christmas Hamper Update Greg reported that it is expectedly that there will be additional need for hampers this year based on the increased use of the food bank. There have already been as many food hampers distributed through the food bank this year as were in all of 2012. Reminder of Important dates. Stuff the Bus — November 30 — 10 AM to 8 PM Packing Day December 20. Distribution Day Dec 21. Change for Next Year Beginning in 2014 we will not provide lunches for purchase at noon chamber meetings. Coffee will be provided, and people can bring a bag lunch or pick something up on their way to the meeting should they choose. BRAED Award Mayor Harold Conquest presented this year’s BRAED award to Marilee Jones of Thor Agencies. Congratulations to Marilee and her staff. Membership Update Dave reported that our membership is increasing and we are now close to 60 members. Bylaws Dave indicated that three positions, president, vice president, and treasurer are available and will need to be filled at the next meeting. Terms are for one year, with a maximum tenure of four years in one position. He asked for volunteers, but no came forward. Adjournment ! Next Meeting: Wednesday, December 4, 2013.
