This award is given for the best short story submitted for The Crocodile
Prize for works on a theme of interest to a general readership.

In 2008 Steamships Trading Company Ltd celebrated 90 years of operations
in PNG. It is a well established, diverse trading conglomerate with interests
in shipping, road transport, product manufacture, property, hotels and
information technology and it employs over 2000 people.

RUSSELL SOABA
Russell Soaba, 61, is one of the greatest writers Papua
New Guinea has produced His works, particularly the
novels Maiba and Wanpis, are studied in universities
around the world by literature and philosophy students.
He was awarded an independence medal in 2006.
