Can I multiply by 10, 100, 1000?
Roll a dice and make a 2 digit number (you
could use playing cards). Use your
understanding of place value to multiply the
numbers. How many can you do? Do you spot
any patterns?
Can I solve word problems?
Take a word problems sheet from the
homework folder. Remember to use RUCSAC
to help you solve the questions!
Mild- use 2 digit numbers.
Hot- Use three digit numbers
Spicy- Use the inverse to divide!
Can I write a biography?
Complete research on your favourite
author. Describe their early childhood,
what inspired them to write and the books
they have written.
The world problems are labelled – take the
right challenge for you!
Can I measure length and width?
Use a ruler or tape measure to measure
objects around your house. Can you estimate
the length of them first?
Mild: Use CM (measure carefully)
Hot: Use cm and convert to metres.
Spicy: Measure to the nearest decimal place!
Can I use column addition to add large
numbers?

To roll dice to create 5,6 or 7 digit numbers.
Add the two numbers together using column
addition.
Can I answer questions about time?
Write a daily record or time table of what
you do. Can you convert this to the 24 hour
clock? What is the time table for your
parents or siblings?
Spicy: Can you write matching word
problems to support your addition?
Can I write imaginatively?
Write an imaginative story, as if you have
stepped into a magical world. What did
you step through? What happened? You
could write a diary as if you were Alice too!
Can I use interesting vocabulary to
describe?
Take one of the photos from the pack in
the homework folder. Can you describe the
setting, what does it look like? Can you use
synonyms?
Can I use speech punctuation?
Write a conversation between you and
your family, or you can think of your own.
Can you remember to use all the rules?
Spicy: Can you convert one of my timetables
into the 12 hour clock?
Can I use my understanding of a text to
answer comprehension questions?
Mild- write a bullet pointed fact file.
Hot – Use a combination of facts and
information to create a fact file.
Spicy – combine the facts in chronological
order. Add in comments or quotes from
interviews.
Mild – Include a beginning, middle and
end.
Hot – Use a time shift.
Spicy – Use different characters points of
view.
Mild – include the 5 senses.
Hot – use similes, alliteration and detail.
Spicy – Use unique and interesting
vocabulary, including metaphors and
personification.

Inverted commas around the spoken
words.
Punctuation inside the inverted commas.
Speech verbs.
