Fort Donelson National Battlefield to Offer Shuttles to Eagle Viewing
Area During the Town of Dover’s “Eagle Fest” May 21 and 22, 2016.
A great opportunity to see America’s symbolic birds, and, hopefully, their new juvenile!
Dover, TN – Fort Donelson National Battlefield is pleased to be partnering with the Town of Dover
during its upcoming “Eagle Fest,” by allowing visitors to take a free shuttle to the park and see the
Bald Eagles that have called Fort Donelson home for over a decade.
From 10AM to 4PM (CT), visitors can enjoy a free shuttle, provided by the National Park Service,
that will take visitors to the Eagle viewing area inside historic Fort Donelson. This shuttle will also
make stops on Saturday May 21 (only) at the recently-dedicated Cross Creeks National Wildlife
Refuge visitor center so that visitors can enjoy this beautiful new facility. Visitors can pick up this free
shuttle near the main event stage at the Dover City Park/ Lick Creek Recreation Area. Shuttle
service on both days will end at 4:00PM. Park staff will accompany the shuttle, and share stories of
local history and of the Fort Donelson eagles. Schedules for the shuttles will be available and posted
at Fort Donelson’s booth at Eagle Fest.
On Saturday, May 21, at 11:00AM, a special Junior Ranger program opportunity will be offered at
the picnic area at Fort Donelson National Battlefield. Participants will be able to make crafts to honor
our National bird, the Bald Eagle. Reservations are required and can be made by calling (931)2325706, ext. 116. The picnic area is located below the historic fort (stop #3 on the driving tour).
