CHURCH BULLETIN SUNDAY, November 20, 2016 Saint James Church The Church With Resurrection Power 4615 Northpark Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80918 WWW.SaintJamesChurch.com | www.TedHaggard.com 719-264-1002 Sunday, Novemeber 20, 2016 Today’s Scripture: “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, with underserved kindness, declares that we are righteous . He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty of our sins.” (Romans 3:23-24). Baby Dedication: If you have a baby to be dedicated to the Lord this morning, please give Pastor Ted a note when you arrive that includes the baby’s name and the names of the parents that are present. The Pastor, Elders, and congregation will pray over babies immediately after the song service this morning. Blessing Our Children: Immediately following the dedication of babies, Pastor Ted will call all of our children forward from newborn through 6th grade to be prayed for by Pastor Ted, our Elders and our congregation. Thanksgiving Celebration: This Thursday, November 24th, is a day set aside to be thankful. In 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. For more than two centuries, days of thanksgiving were celebrated by individual colonies and states. It wasn’t until 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, that President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November. Take time to go for a walk, hike, or get some time with friends and/or family members to express your thankfulness. Turkey Bowl: This Thursday morning from 8:45 to 11:00 AM, our high school group is inviting you to join with them for a fun and informal football game at Nick Dial’s house, 4065 Scotch Pine Drive. Ladies, this is a great way to get the boys and men out of the house on Thanksgiving morning, and for the guys to get some exercise before a Thanksgiving meal. For more information call Nick Dial at (719) 502-5328. Tim Stone and Team on Missions Trip Today: Several of our members are gone to New Mexico today to distribute turkeys, blankets, toys and 14 cords of wood to needy families to supplement their Thanksgiving. Thank you, on their behalf, to all of you who purchased and donated turkeys for this expression of God’s love and kindness. Coats, hats, gloves and shoes: Jo Wood serves a Medicaid community that has asked her if she might be able to accumulate some coats, hats, gloves, and shoes for men. All items can be second hand. This group has some mentally unstable people. Let’s all pitch-in on this. Bring any items you can Sunday, November 20, 2016 give to the give-away table at the bottom of the north stairwell and leave them there. Jo will deliver them on November 28th. On the behalf of the least of these our brethren, thank you! Connection Cards: If you are new to St. James and do not receive our e-mails, please fill out a Connection Card and place it in an offering box. Wednesday Night Prayer and Bible Study: This Wednesday night, prior to Thanksgiving, we will have prayer at 6:00 and Bible Study at 7:00, as usual. If you have family or friends coming into town for Thanksgiving, consider bringing them to Bible Study with you. It’s one hour, from 7:00 to 8:00, and will be a great time of encouragement in the Word. A Note From One Of Our Missionaries: Hello St. James Church Family, My time here in the Cook Islands is coming to an end. I have, in the last month, been playing in the International Rugby 7's Tournament, witnessing to those in darkness, helping with kids camps, coaching young boys and working to maintain our missions facilities. I am blessed by His abundant love and care. Thank you all for the care you have shared through prayers, finances and care packages. My plans for this month, before I leave for our missions trip to Myanmar, are; to fundraise and put in order all my responsibilities so I will finish well. I also plan on finishing a coaching course that I have been working on throughout this year. I ask you to pray for favor as I have an opportunity to help with a pioneering project in Switzerland. Our desire is to start a discipleship program in Zurich. Thank you all so much for your prayers and love. May your joy be made full in the love and voice of our Heavenly Father. May the Prince of Peace, and our everlasting Father's goodness consume you all in His perfect Glory. God bless you all, Jess Roberson Cook Islands Sunday, November 20, 2016 Welcome to St. James Church: We communicate primarily through e-mail, so if you would like to receive details about schedule, events, etc., please ask an usher for a Connection Card, fill it out and put it in one of the offering boxes located by each door.
