Ronald McDonald House Charities U.S. Scholarship Program
A partnership between Ronald McDonald House Charities and its local chapters is once again opening the doors
to higher education for graduating high school seniors. The RMHC scholarship program seeks to invest in
students who are exemplary role models in their communities and have the initiative to fulfill their educational
goals. They are offering several types of scholarships.

Fairleigh Dickinson University Presidential Scholarships– Fairleigh Dickinson University is offering full
tuition Presidential Scholarships for high– achieving students. They are annually renewable for four years of
study. Requirements: SAT composite of 1350 or higher (Math plus Evidenced-based Reading and Writing); or
ACT score of 29 or higher, GPA of 3.5 or higher, enrolling as a first-time full-tie residential freshman ad FDU’s
Florham or Metropolitan Campus. A completed FDU Freshman Application for Admission with all required
supporting documentation must be received by or before January 15, 2017.

John F. Kennedy Library Foundation “ Profile in Courage Essay Contest”-The Profile in Courage Essay
Contest invites United States high school students to consider the concept of political courage by writing an
essay on a U.S. elected official who has chosen to do what is right, rather than what is expedient. This program
challenges students to consider the quality President Kennedy admired most in public life: Political
Courage. This contest provides students an exciting opportunity to develop research, writing, and critical
thinking skills as they explore the concept of political courage. They are asked to identify an act of political
courage, locate a reliable and varied source of material, and synthesize this information into a compelling
essay. Interested students should log on to The Kennedy Presidential Library website, www.jfklibrary.org , to
access the complete requirements, and online curriculum, and a classroom DVD.

GE- Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program: This scholarship program annually awards roughly 20 college
-bound students ho demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with $10,000 renewable
scholarships-up to $40,000 total per recipient.

Indiana University Selective Scholarships : Considered for all students who submit a completed application
for admission by Nov. 1st. If student meets the criteria they will be invited to complete the online Selective
Scholarship Application through email at time of admission.

Ron Brown Scholar Program: The Ron Brown Scholar Program seeks to identify African-American high school
seniors who will make significant contributions to society. Applicants must excel academically, exhibit
exceptional leadership potential, participate in community service activities and demonstrate financial need. The
applicant must be a US citizen or hold a permanent resident visa card.
Deadline : November 1, 2016.

The 2016 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards: This program celebrates the spirit of youth volunteerism,
and recognizes those students that have distinguished themselves through volunteer work. All seniors that have
taken part in community service over the past year may fill out an online application form at http://
spirit.prudential.com .
Deadline: November 8, 2016.

Boston University Trustee Scholarship Competition: Boston University is once again offering their Trustee
Scholarship Competition. Selected by a faculty committee from a pool of applicants who have been nominated
by their high school, each scholar receives a renewable scholarship covering full undergrad tuition plus
orientation and student fees for four years. Trustee Scholars are typically in the top ten percent of their class and
are also very active leaders in their schools and communities. All nomination material can be downloaded at
www.bu.edu/admissions/trustee.
Deadline: These materials must be submitted to your counselor no later than Nov. 18th to meet the Dec.

John M. Belk Scholarship at Davidson College: Eight Belk Scholars' will be receiving an annually renewable
scholarship equivalent to the college’s comprehensive fees (valued in 2016-2017 at over $61,900,) two study
stipends ($3,000 each) to pursue international study and other enrichment opportunities. Each school may
nominate TWO student for the Belk Scholarship.
Deadline: To be nominated please download the nomination materials at www.davidson.edu/belk and
submit to your counselor no later than Friday October 28th to meet the Nov. 7th deadline. If you are
nominated you must complete the admission application (www.davidson-edu/apply) no later than Nov. 18th
to meet the Dec. 1st deadline.

Jefferson Scholars Foundation: The University of Virginia is now accepting nominations for the Jefferson
Scholarship competition. The foundation seeks to find high school seniors who possess exceptional ability in
leadership and scholarship and who show promise of making a significant contribution to the University
community as students and to society at large as graduates.


NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation: 2016Young Entrepreneur Award: Graduating high school seniors
who operate their own small business are eligible to receive a 2017 Young Entrepreneur Award from the NFIB

Deadline: Apply online between Oct. 1 and December 18, 2016.

Wesleyan University Hamilton Prize for Creativity: This is a four year full tuition scholarship worth more than
$200,000 in total. All incoming first year students are eligible to apply for prize which will be awarded to the
student whose work of creative written expression is judged to best reflect the originality, artistry and dynamism
embodied in Broadway's Hamilton. Recipient must be accepted to and enroll full-time at Wesleyan for the 201718 school years. Apply at Wesleyan.edu/admission. In addition to the completed application student must submit
an original written expression. These include: short fiction, poetry, slam poetry, and song lyrics, as well as
excerpts from longer works of fiction, creative nonfiction, screenplays or theatrical plays and any other form of

WACE Scholarship Partner Institutions: National Co-op Scholarship Program– Awarding 175 merit
scholarships totaling $4.5 million. Students must be applying to one of the following institutions: Clarkson
University Johnson & Wales, R.I.T., U Toledo, U Mass Lowell, Wentworth Institute of Tech, SUNY Oswego, U of
Cincinnati, Drexel University, Merrimack College. A cumulative average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale is required.

AXA Achievement Scholarship: The AXA Achievement scholarship program is once again sponsoring this
opportunity for college bound students use toward college expenses. Students who are involved in the
community, have led various types of projects that benefit others and/or have overcome personal challenges in

NYS PTA Jenkins Memorial Scholarship for Teacher Education: Each year the New York State PTA awards
$3,000 scholarships to students for the graduating class who exhibit potential to be outstanding classroom
teachers. Student MUST attend a SUNY to pursue a degree in Education. Please visit http://nyspta.org/

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration Committee of Nassau County is pleased to announce two
essay contests: The 32nd Annual MLK, Jr. Senior Essay Scholarship Award Contest : Financial aid based
monetary award (amount varies based on the total amount of money raised) to a full-time student during the fall
of 2017. 200-300 word essay on ‘HOW HAVE THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND LEGACY OF DR. MARTIN
LUTHER KING, JR. AFFECTED OR IMPACTED MY LIFE AND SOCIETY.” There will be 3 winners of this
award.
The Scholarship on behalf of Nassau County Muslims SENIOR ESSAY CONTEST : $1,000 cash award. 750
word essay on “HOW HAVE THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND LEGACY OF DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.
AFFECTED OR IMPACTED MY LIFE AND SOCIETY.” This Essay contest is open to all college bound high
