Motorcycle Event’, along with Biketoberfest®, the Daytona 500, Rolex 24 At Daytona and Coke
Zero 400. We’re home to Daytona International Speedway, the ‘World Center of Racing’, and
claim the U.S. headquarters of LPGA and NASCAR, and the Florida headquarters of the USTA.
With approximately 12,000 rooms, the Daytona Beach area is home to several

On the Horizon…
The ‘new’ Daytona Beach – an exciting chapter in the destination’s history has arrived,
showcasing its racing heritage and idyllic Florida East coast oceanfront location, comprising
eight distinct communities and an impressive arts affiliation. Visitors can already enjoy Daytona
Beach’s first oceanfront rollercoaster and the world’s first oceanfront Hyatt Place. Just
completed is a $400 million expansion at Daytona International Speedway dubbed ‘Daytona
Rising’ and the Cici and Hyatt Brown Museum of Art that house the world’s largest collection
of Florida art on the Museum of Arts and Science’s campus. A new Hard Rock Hotel & Café, a
Westin, and the One Daytona entertainment complex are among the areas vast hotel and
resort projects.
Race fans are rejoicing over the DAYTONA Rising Project – a $400 million overhaul at Daytona
International Speedway that’s created a world-class facility with premium amenities and
unparalleled conveniences and experiences. By the numbers - three new concourse levels that
will span the front stretch; five expanded and redesigned fan entrances called ‘injectors’; 11
social areas dubbed ‘neighborhoods’, each the size of a football field with open sightline and
dozens of video screens so no one will the on-track action; over 60 new trackside suites; 14
elevators and 40 escalators in the new grandstand; and 101,500 new 20”-21” grandstand seats
featuring backs and arm rests.
Nearly 1.1 million square feet of premier shopping, dining, accommodations, theater, and
entertainment are planned just steps from the ‘World Center of Racing’ and minutes from the

Shops®, America’s most popular outdoor store, and Cobb Theaters, the highly respected
Southeastern-based exhibitor, have signed letters of intent to anchor One Daytona.
The Museum of Arts & Sciences recently welcomed the Cici and Hyatt Brown Museum of Art,
a $13 million facility filled with 2,700 paintings dating from the 19th century, the most extensive
collection of Florida art worldwide.
The 26,000 square foot home of the Browns’
unprecedented collection also features a mezzanine showcasing their signature pieces, six
changing galleries, conference and education rooms, a café with outdoor seating, and a gift
shop.
Several oceanfront hotels are realizing a tremendous upgrade in the coming year with the
Desert Inn renovation leading the way and becoming a high-end Westin, in 2017. The property
will boast 200 rooms and 25,000-30,000 square feet of meeting space. Also slated is a mass
$150 million two-tower condo hotel project by Photogroup Inc. on 4.5 acres just south of
Seabreeze Blvd., with 500 rooms and 15,100 square feet of meeting space. An iconic property
that once housed the meeting in which NASCAR was created; the Streamline Motel will open
as an independent boutique this year.
Sports & Meetings Momentum Builds
For only the second time in the organization’s history, the Shriners have chosen a singular
destination for their annual event for two consecutive years – Daytona Beach in 2017 and 2018.
The destination is also proud host to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA)
Football National Championships, held in 2014, 2015, and again in 2016, at the City of Daytona
Beach’s 10,000-seat Municipal Stadium.

The Daytona Beach area is home to a colorful culinary scene and celebrating this tasty town is a
quiet group of chefs, bakers, and baristas who are transforming the destination with new
independent restaurants, food festivals, and farm-to-table and creative cuisine. Their love for

About the Halifax Area Advertising Authority

The Halifax Area Advertising Authority (HAAA) is an 11-member board appointed by members
of the Volusia County Council who oversee the spending of bed tax funds through the DMO to
market the destination to leisure and business travelers. The Daytona Beach area is a
geographic market region the encompasses the following communities: Daytona Beach,
Daytona Beach Shores, Holly Hill, Ormond Beach, Ormond-By-The-Sea, Ponce Inlet, South
Daytona and Wilbur-By-The-Sea.
HAAA, doing business as the Daytona Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, works with
area tourism and hospitality-related businesses, non-profit organizations, and event promoters,
to represent the area to potential travelers, tour operators, travel agents, meeting planners, and
the travel media. With a staff of approximately 20 full-time marketing and administrative
professionals.
