You can see two Sputnik satellites hanging overhead in the Cosmonauts exhibition at the Science Museum. These were used by designers and engineers to prepare for the 1957 mission. Inside you can see the bulky battery and a small radio transmitter and cooling fan. Cosmonauts: Birth of the Space Age is open until 13 March 2016 at the Science Museum.
