CASE STUDY | TEST ENGINEERING P 1/1 Seat function tester (SFT) End-of-line tester (EOLT) Key challenges in the project: — — — Current and resistance measurements Interface to control devices Leak testing of the bladder inflation inside the seat How did we solve them? Berghof SMM 3.1 module, 19" with 8 power measuring channels and 8 resistance measuring channels Communication module with CAN bus, LIN bus and/or KLINE, 4 communication channels, interface to the measuring PC Leak tester 19" with interface to the measuring PC Purpose of the project The continuous development and innovation of car seats with regard to safety and comfort permanently increases testing requirements in terms of creating flexible and extensive test procedures. In order to meet these requirements in the future, a proven measurement module for electric inspection tasks has been further developed: the Measurement Module for Automotive Interior - Merlin. These modules are installed in a compact, mobile 19" rack in the EOL tester. The measurement modules examine, among other things, the functionality of the seat adjustment mechanism, seat heating, airbags, the bladder mat (for passenger weight detection) and perform a crossover test. Other components which are tested include the seatbelt buckle, the belt tensioners and the footwell/ambient lighting. Technical requirements for the test system Measuring equipment: resistance measurement, current measurement, path measurement, communication with controllers, leak testing. Operating modes: automatic, manual; measuring program with user interface; software: programming in LabVIEW (National Instruments); emergency-stop function.
