The new programme features nine fantastic concerts which once again bring world class music to your doorstep. There will be performances from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hull Philharmonic Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Russian State Philharmonic Orchestra and the Hallé Orchestra. Get your Union Jacks ready for the chance to enjoy the Last Night of the Proms right here in Hull (October 5) or be transported to a perfumed night in a Spanish garden by composer Manuel de Falla (February 8). Councillor Geraghty Hear booming bass drums recreate cannon fire in an all-Russian concert to mark the centenary of the country’s revolution (November 25) or indulge in the romance of Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet (March 8). Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty Suite is also included (November 9) and there is another chance to hear 6000 Pipes!, the piece composed by Sir Karl Jenkins for Hull UK City of Culture 2017 (February 24). We also welcome piano virtuoso Mark Bebbington (April 12), one of a stellar line-up of performers joining the orchestras this season which also includes Alessandro Taverna who travels from Venice to perform (May 12) and China’s Hong Xu (May 24).
