SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
• The task must be completed by the due date. Hardcopies must be handed to your regular
classroom teacher during school hours and signed for.
• Email submissions must be sent to the following email account:
• Assignments received after 4pm on the due date will incur a late penalty
ABSENCE/LATE SUBMISSION
• Late submission: For students in Years 11 and 12, the penalty is 40% for the first calendar day
and 20% for each calendar day thereafter. The penalty includes weekend and public holidays.
For students in Years 7,8, 9 and 10 the penalty is 20% per day. Any assignment more than one
week late will result in an N award warning letter being mailed to parents.
• Absence: if you are absent from school on the day the task is to be completed, you are required
on your return to school to provide a medical certificate/documentation to the front office.
Failure to provide adequate documentation will result in late submission penalties being
applied.

• Terracotta – a type of tile used to build pots and other objects
• Explaining – to make plain or clear, to make understandable
• Qin Shi Huangdi – the First Emperor of China
• General – an important member of the military that leads an army
• Archers – soldiers that have special skills with a bow and arrow
• Walking Cavalry – specially trained soldiers
• Unarmoured Infantry – ordinary soldiers with no protective
equipment
• Low Ranking Officer – a highly trained member of the military with
leadership qualities
TASK:
Write a report explaining the purpose of Qin Shi Huangdi’s Tomb and the Terracotta
Warriors.
To help answer your report, answer the following questions:
1. Who was Qin Shi Huangdi?
2. Name two major building projects ordered by Qin Shi Huangdi
3. Choose two types of terracotta warriors, and include a picture of each warrior
(refer to Vocabulary list for types of terracotta warriors)
4. For each warrior you have chosen, answer the following:
• Where was the warrior found? Is the location significant?
• Describe the appearance of the warrior
• What equipment did the warrior have and what was the warrior’s
purpose?
• Why do you think the tomb was built with this type of warrior?
The report is to be typed on one A4 page (double sided). The report is to be 300 words in
length.
You must include a bibliography, listing all the references you have used in your
research.
