The Anschutz Corporation - Power Company of Wyoming

The
Anschutz
Corporation
The Anschutz Corporation, a privately held company based in Denver,
Colorado, owns and operates a diverse portfolio of resort, real estate, energy
and entertainment investments worldwide. A leader in the natural resources
industry for more than 75 years, today the multibillion-dollar company has
affiliates in energy exploration, production and delivery; lodging, hospitality and
leisure; newspaper, magazine and digital publishing; farming and ranching;
sports operations and facilities; and live music, events and film production.
Specific business interests include:
Anschutz Exploration Corporation, an independent oil and
gas exploration company with significant projects in Colorado
and Wyoming. AEC and its predecessors have participated in
significant discoveries and development of oil and gas resources
worldwide. The company’s experienced technical team has drilled
and completed hundreds of complex well designs, applying
advanced technologies and practices to achieve
multiple successes.
Power Company of Wyoming LLC, the developer of
the Chokecherry and Sierra Madre Wind Energy Project, a
1,000-turbine wind farm to be located in one of the nation’s
windiest places: Carbon County, Wyoming. The project spans
a combination of privately owned land interspersed with federal
land that is managed for multiple use. With 3,000 megawatts
of capacity, the wind project could provide enough clean,
competitively priced renewable electricity for 1 million Desert
Southwest households – while also contributing resource diversity
that ideally complements the power profile of other renewable
sources. Project construction began in September 2016.
TransWest Express LLC, the developer of the TransWest
Express Transmission Project, a high-voltage electric transmission
line to provide California, Nevada and Arizona utilities with access
to Wyoming’s high-capacity renewable wind energy. The design
calls for a 600 kilovolt, direct current line with 3,000 megawatts
of transmission capacity. About two-thirds of the 730-mile route
lies on federal land. Economic analysis by the Western Electricity
Coordinating Council, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory,
PA Consulting and others shows that the TWE Project can provide
the most cost-effective renewable energy resource alternative to
help satisfy a portion of the needs of the Desert Southwest.
