Job Posting: Rowing Coaches General Overview: The North Star Rowing Club is located on Lake Banook in Dartmouth Nova Scotia and offers rowing programs for Learn to Row, Youth (age 13-21), Seniors (age 21-27), Para (all ages) and Masters (age 21+) rowers. Our competitive athletes compete in local, provincial, national and international level regattas, and some of our members have achieved medals in both World and Olympic competitions. The club is currently seeking up to three coaches to work under the direction of the club Head Coaches. The coaches will develop and manage day to day rowing programs for our summer junior recreational program, and Masters, Juniors, Para and Learn to Row evening programs. He/She must ensure that athletes adhere to all safety guidelines on and off the water and also adhere to the Coaching Code of Ethics. Specific Responsibilities: Coordinate and instruct daily summer recreational Junior programs Develop day to day workout plans and implement recreational and competitive training programs for Masters, Para and Junior rowers Assist club competitive coaches with Junior and Senior High Performance training (excellent coach mentoring opportunities) Assist in the coordination of all aspects of the club operation, which includes program registration and planning, regattas registration and planning, boat cleaning and minor repairs, and general club and grounds maintenance Provide leadership to youth and offer a friendly welcoming face to all members of the club Qualifications: Must be a fulltime student returning to studies in September NCCP Learn to Row or RCA Coach Trained or Certified preferred Valid Pleasure Craft Operator Card required Current Emergency First Aid and CPR Course Excellent swimming ability Excellent interpersonal skills and organizational skills Experience working with athletes with disabilities Criminal Record and Vulnerable Person Check required Work Schedule: 30-35 Hours/week (as defined by funding grants) May-Sept or June-Sept as outlined by grants Additional hours may be possible Extension into October may be possible Attendance at all coaching sessions and summer regattas required Remuneration: Salary based on experience and government funding grant If interested, please send a complete resume and cover letter by March 15, 2017 to: Peter Webster and Bob Sawler at [email protected] These positions are contingent on government funding and applicants must be fulltime students who are returning to studies in September.
