TGV Fact Sheet TGV The high-speed TGV (Train à Grande Vitesse) trains connect over 150 cities and towns in France. TGV has proudly served these cities in France and neighbouring Switzerland since 1981. A journey from Paris to Bordeaux will take only 3 hours on these trains as they reach a world-record holding 320 km/h. For 20 years it has regularly linked more than 150 destinations in France and Europe safely, quickly and comfortably. Reservations are compulsory. All single tickets purchased include a seat reservation in the price. Tickets need to be validated using the automatic stamping machines at the beginning of the platform prior to boarding the train. Eurail Passholders are welcome. However a seat reservation fee is compulsory. Onboard TGV Both classes: Refurbished interior and spacious seating organization. Other new features / spaces The Carré is a seating configuration with two sets of two seats facing each other (on both sides of the aisle) with a table in between. A glass screen separates several Carrés from the rest of the car. The Kiosque is similar to the Carré but offers additional privacy. Instead of the glass screen there is a solid glass panel that makes the section look like a compartment. Luggage racks are available above seats and at the entrance of each car.
