APRIL 2017
April 1 - I responded from a training to a working occupied structure fire in the town of Allen.
April 2- I responded from home to 3 call in the town of Allen; rekindle, difficulty breathing, and subject with
burns.
April 3- Mike began working on the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) information that he
collected last week.
April 5- I met with public Safety Committee. Mike began working on the Homeland Security Grant Second
Quarter reports for the SHSP and the Hazard Mitigation grants..
April 5- Bonnie and Mike attended the SWREMS Council meeting in Olean.Topics covered included: the
WREMAC Protocol updates coming out soon; Critical Care updates should be out in May; and the STEMS
report on the success of their Spring Training Seminar held at Good Times in Olean for the first time.
April 6 & 7- I attended the NYS Fire Coordinator's annual Conference at the Fire Academy. Mike worked on
the CFDA report for the Treasurer’s Office.
April 10- I responded to a Woods fire in the Town of Hume. Bonnie and I attended the MCI drill planning
meeting.
April 11 - I attended and reported at the Allegany County Highway Association meeting. Updated them on
the Hazard Mitigation and thanked them for being at 100% submitted. I also reported on the Federal Disaster
Storm Stella (Snow Storm March 13-15) that is looked like we were not going to make local threshold of
$173,000.
April 12- I attended the EMS radio committee meeting. Mike completed the audits for Emergency Services,
Homeland Security Grant FY15 SHSP, and the DHS Hazard Mitigation Grant.
April 13- Bonnie, Mike and I attended the Office of the Aging’s Senior Forum along with many other County
Departments as well as a number of local businesses, agencies and hospitals geared towards the needs of the
elderly.
April 14- Bonnie, Mike and I attended the Joint Preparedness meeting held in the EOC at the Public Safety
Facility. Bonnie led the meeting. Old business included the topics: Ebola/ Zika funding or changes covered by
Mona Carbone of Jones Memorial Hospital; the EMS report by Mike; Red Cross update; Jeff discussed the
Mass Casualty Incident being planned for Tuesday, May 23rd evening at the Angelica Fairgrounds.
April 15- I attended the Andover Firemen's Annual Dinner.

April 17 - Mike worked on the CFDA backup paperwork and received the signed Course Sponsorship Renewal
forms back from Dr, Edwards the Medical Director for the EMS Training program. Mike turned a draft of the
CFDA paperwork into the Director, Jeff Luckey so he could check for missing grant papers, numerical errors
and/ or calculation errors.
April 18-Mike began working on corrections for theCFDA. Mike received the sign up roster from STEMS for
their EMS Skills Training Fair to be held at Crossroads on Friday, April 21st.
April 19- Mike set up the Crossroads Center large conference room for the EZ-IO (Inter-Osseous) infusion
Training Seminar being held at 6:000 pm. Twenty Advanced Life Saving EMS personnel attended the session.
April 20 - I responded to a semi vs car accident on Route 19 in Caneadea.
April 24- Bonnie, Mike and I attended a meeting at the Angelica Fairgrounds with Ryan McKnight, the
Angelica 1 st Asst. Fire Chief and Scott Lanphier from MTS to go over the logistics of the May 23rd MCI Drill .
April 21 - I attended the Angelica Hose Company's Annual Fireman's Dinner.
April 25 - Bonnie attended the Vehicle Fleet meeting at the Legislator's Chambers for our office.
April 27- I will be meeting with our Fire Investigators Team for our bi-monthly meeting.
May 2-3 I will be attending the annual NYS ILO (Intelligences Liaison Officer) Conference in Syracuse. ILO
program is required by Homeland Security and provides information and guidance to our Volunteer Fire and
EMS personnel on safely responding to any kind of threatening situations. See attached.

This is anticipated to be a short application period and the turnaround will be only 10 days to 2
weeks. This is why the approval is being sought prior to application period.
Explanation of grant application: This funding is to support regional preparedness for the county. The expected amount
will be approximately the same as last year. The grant was for $52,500.00. This money will be used to enhance the preparedness for
the county to respond to emergency situations.

Youth – On 4/3 met with Government for Youth interns; discussed responsibilities of both
positions
STOP - On 4/7 attended Crime Victim Ceremony; presented with Certificate of Appreciation
Youth – On 4/12 participated in BYD (Bureau of Youth Development) conference call
On 4/13 participated in Senior Forum with educational information and giveaways
STOP – On 4/17 participated in GTSC (Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee) grant training for
Bicycle Safety Grant; completed 2018 grant application
STOP – On 4/18 met with STOP-DWI Administrator who picked up Traveling Exhibit
Youth – On 4/19 held Annual Youth Board Dinner and Youth Recognition Awards; 56 attended
dinner with recognition of two graduating seniors, one retiring board member and 5 youth for
Youth Recognition Awards; graduating senior gave presentation on CRCS Outdoors; held
quarterly Youth Board meeting
STOP – On 4/24 attended WNY Regional STOP-DWI Meeting in Batavia
STOP – On 4/25 attended Traffic Safety Board meeting

Each of these files required the attention of one or more prosecutors, as well as support
staff. In many cases there are various or multiple crimes charged against one individual.
The lease on our copy machine will soon be expiring and a new copy machine will be
approximately $16.00 less per month on a new 5 year lease.

April activities:
I attended Western Group of NYS weights & Measures Spring meeting in Batavia.
I collected petroleum samples for testing with the help of my current intern.
I started checking batch plants in Cuba and Belmont.
I checked three vehicle scales.
I checked seven businesses with small scales.
I checked five gas stations and two of them twice as they had changes made.
I checked the two mass flow meters at Saputo with outside agency
I checked two bulk tanks.
I traveled approximately 750 miles in the month.

We received our first batch of pheasant chicks and have started the early planting in the garden.
•
On April 7th at the Annual Crime Victims’ Rights ceremony our office received certificates from
Congressman Tom Reed, Senator Cathy Young and Assemblyman Joe Giglio for our
outstanding service on behalf of crime victims.
•
On April 20th, Sheriff Whitney, Undersheriff Monroe and Sgt. Beckman met with Rushford Lake
Recreation District Chair and Co-chair to discuss our lake patrols and other issues.
•
On April 21th the Wellsville High School Law class toured the jail and a CERT Officer gave a
demonstration hand cuffing and a cell extraction procedures.
•
On April 25th Legislator Deb Root toured the Public Safety Facility
•
The Civil Division served 74 civil processes and collected various undertakings totaling
$86,095.63 March 24, through April 23, 2017. (see attached report).
•
As of Payroll number 6 overtime is down by 92.75 hours from this time last year. Administrative
overtime is down 64 hours. About 59% of all overtime for this year is a result of contractual
items such as Sunday premium, holiday pay, shift briefing, sick coverage and no part time
available. To date the highest areas of overtime are Holiday (16.69%), Sunday premium
(16.45%), Training (19.55 %) {we are conducting the corrections academy and one deputy doing
in-service training at this time}, Shift Briefing (9.25%) and Sick coverage (7.32%).
