October 21-24 Bear In There by Shel Silverstein There's a Polar Bear In our Frigidaire-He likes it 'cause it's cold in there. With his seat in the meat And his face in the fish And his big hairy paws In the buttery dish, He's nibbling the noodles, He's munching the rice, He's slurping the soda, He's licking the ice. And he lets out a roar If you open the door. And it gives me a scare To know he's in there-That Polary Bear In our Fridgitydaire. The lessons are in Chapter 9 of the Science Text online. I have again revised the Light Test date to October 29 so that we have more opportunity to conduct additional investigations and because the children were already taking two assessments this week. Readings and investigations in class are followed by discussion and questions (answers are given during the discussion) that your children should be answering in class. Many of these class assignments are graded. I do give the children an opportunity to fix their work if it is less than 70%. Social Studies Your children will be learning about maps and globes and cardinal and intermediate directions in the next two weeks. The brainpopjr video clip on Maps will be helpful for them to review.
