3-Year-Old Preschool Class
This week was all about pet lizards!
Pets:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: The Mixed-Up Chameleon: We read
Eric Carle’s The Mixed-Up Chameleon and discussed the different
things were learned about pet lizards. Then we used an overhead
projector to trace a large outline of the chameleon from the story.
Finally, the children used Eric Carle’s tissue collage technique to
add color to our chameleon by ripping tissue paper into small pieces
and painting over it with a special water and glue mixture. Be sure
to check him out hanging up inside our classroom!!
 Thursday, Friday: Sun Catcher Geckos: The children learned that
geckos use special sticky pads on their feet and toes to walk on
walls and ceilings. Using special stained glass paint, the children
created their own colorful gecko sun catcher. Find them hanging up
in our classroom window!
 Lizard WEB: We ended our learning of pet lizards by sharing what
we learned. See what your child added to our discussion on our lizard WEB hanging outside our classroom.
 Lizard Book Page: The children shared their learning of lizards and
added lizard stamps to their lizard book page.


Throughout our project after studying each type of pet, our learning
will also be documented in our Pet Project Books. In these books, the
children will be creating each type of pet as well as including a sentence about what they have learned. You can find these books on the
cubbies outside our classroom BUT please do not take them home yet…
we will still be adding to them throughout our project!

learning about pets...many more still to
