Sponsored Spring Walk
The Department for Education (DfE) recently published guidelines asking
Schools to consider the purchase of a defibrillator. This comes after some
high profile cases revolving around recent incidents where young lives
have been cut short as a result of sudden cardiac arrest whilst at school.
The argument, in these particular cases, is that these fatalities could have
possibly been prevented had a defibrillator been made available.
As a result, the DfE introduced the new guidelines that were written into
the "Supporting pupils at school with medical conditions" document. It is
not mandatory for schools to install a defibrillator, but a defibrillator
which is a machine used to give an electric shock when a person is in
cardiac arrest, i.e. when the heart stops beating normally and swift action
in the form of early cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and prompt
defibrillation is taken can help save a person’s life. Cardiac arrest can
affect people of any age and without warning.
The PTFA want to raise money to buy a Defibrillator for school by having
a sponsored walk. A Defibrillator will cost around £1000 and training for
staff will be extra. Our target is to raise around £1500, so please get as
many sponsors as you can.
The walk will take place on Friday 31st March 2017. Juniors will walk
part of the Tonge Trail and Infants and Early Years will complete an
Easter themed walk around the school grounds. Easter bonnets, Easter
bunny ears etc are all welcome for Infants and Early Years.
All children will take part and each will receive a little gift on the day.
Please bring in your sponsorship money as soon as possible, deadline for
sponsorship money will be Wednesday 5th April 2017.
Thanks from the PTFA

PARENT VIEW
We would like your thoughts on
our school, at any time…
Please visit https://parentview.ofsted.gov.uk/ and
click on the ‘Give Your Views’ link to tell Ofsted
what you think about your child’s school.
Attendance – Whole school attendance this year is
extremely low and we have a large number of
children below the national average of 96%. As you
know the school has set an ambitious target of
97% and your support in ensuring your child
arrives at school on time and every day is
essential. Please avoid making medical/dental
appointments in the school day and ensure that
your child attends school regularly and arrives on
time. We are also receiving a number of requests
for term time holidays. At the present time the
law on holidays during school time has not
changed and the law states that the Head teacher
may NOT authorise any absence from school
unless there are exceptional circumstances.
