THE CAMPBELL PROGRAM
The Economics/Pre-Law major prepares students to pursue graduate
work in Law, Political Science and Public Policy. It will also prepare
students to work in a think-tank or the private sector. Our program
provides students with a solid foundation in Economic theory
and Political Science. It will also equip students with knowledge
in quantitative analysis, enhance writing skills and promote
institutions that support a civil society. Our program also gives
students a more holistic sense of how various social institutions
interact. Students who do not desire a traditional pre-law
curriculum can experience a program that brings together the most
rigorous disciplines in the social sciences.
THE CAMPBELL APPROACH
The Lundy-Fetterman School of Business promotes a free market
approach to economics. The Lundy Chair of Business Philosophy,
one of the nation’s first free enterprise chairs, works closely with
students. This program takes the best of economics and applies it
to the institutions required in a market system and the institutions
that govern people. Campbell’s program also applies economic
knowledge to politics, law and other social institutions so our
students can better analyze and contribute to the society in which
they exist. Students will also be able to remove economics from its
contextual void and place it in the realm of the practical. Campbell’s
approach is based on understanding how different institutions
operate in developing a peaceful, virtuous and civil society.

THE CAMPBELL RESOURCES
The most unique and important resource Campbell University
offers students is the Lundy Chair of Business Philosophy. This
endowed chair and the faculty associated with it creates unique
opportunities for students to meet leading scholars in their field,
attend John Locke Foundations events and provide the opportunity
to obtain internship at think-tanks located in North Carolina and
Washington D.C. The Lundy Chair sponsors the P.L.E. (Politics,
Law and Economics) Lecture Series which brings leading scholars
from different fields to Campbell to lecture on current research and
policy issues. The Lundy Chair also sponsors the Adam Smith Club,
which focuses on public policy issues and the interaction of politics,
law and economics. This club gives students the opportunity to
learn leadership skills and also allows students to participate in
a forum which debates current policy issues through the Adam
Smith Club Roundtable Discussion Series.
THE CAMPBELL FACULTY
The four Campbell University Economists who teach in our
program hold doctoral degrees. Students are also taught by
the Lundy Chair of Business Philosophy who holds a Ph.D. in
Economics and a JD. Students interested in pursuing law school
will be instructed by a faculty member who understands the
necessary skills to succeed in law school. The Campbell faculty
dedicate themselves to their students and are also readily accessible
to assist them in any way.
Dr. Derek Yonai, Lundy Chair of Philosophy of Business, works closely with students who major in
Economics. He serves as professor, student adviser, and Adam Smith Club adviser.
